Just bought this webcam to experiment with Skype etc. Selected it due to favorable reviews and a really low pnorice.
Plug and play worked fine. I plugged it in and it works great. No driver download required for me. I'm using a Windows XP Compaq Presario, no service pack installed right now.
No microphone. I just use a separate mic. For $4, what do you expect?
Image quality decent. Not HD, but not a pixelated blob either.
LED lights a nice feature. Has a dimmer switch. If you really want good lighting though, you need to be in a well lit room. For the LEDs to matter, the camera has to be pretty close to you, and then it is just a washed-out white light.
Others have complained about no recording software/function. Just go to facebook and record yourself. You can make a 20 min. video there.
Would I buy again if it broke? That depends on how long it takes to break. Works great so far. If you want a simple webcam for next to nothing, this is your camera. More than I would expect for $4.
