Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of EMU XMIDI 1X1 USB MIDI InterfaceCustomer Review: Gets the job done. Summary: 5 Stars
This little guy does exactly what I need it to. It takes my electric keyboard (any keyboard with a MIDI in/out will do) and seamlessly connects it to my computer and turns it into a MIDI controller. I give it a five-star review because it is hassle-free and latency-free. If you're looking for something with a few more bells and whistles, or you need multiple MIDI outs, then this isn't for you. But if you're like me and you need a cheap, yet effective, way of using MIDI...THIS IS IT!
p.s. Just in case you didn't read it in all the other reviews you need to put the ins in the outs, and the outs in the ins. No biggie.
Customer Review: Fast, Works with GarageBand on MBP and USB Hub Summary: 5 Stars
Need to get Garage Band working with your MIDI keyboard? This will do it. No drivers required on a Mac Book Pro and Garage Band detects it immediately as a MIDI input. This cable also work on a non-powered USB hub as well.
Note: you will connect the OUTPUT of the cable into the MIDI INPUT of the keyboard and the INPUT into the OUTPUT MIDI port of the keyboard. Just like on your stereo system where to connect the output from one device to the input of another.
This cable is also extremely fast in terms of communication and there is no lag when recording.

Customer Review: Great product Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this to adjust the sensitivity on a set of Guitar Hero drums since I didn't want to wait a few weeks for Red Octane to send me a free one. Besides, the freebie one is not a true USB to MIDI cable since it has only one MIDI plug and is just one way. Since its use would have been limited to just fixing the drums I decided to get something that had more than one purpose. After tuning the drums, I used the cable to hook a keyboard up to a laptop for music production where it works perfectly. I found that with XP I needed to install the drivers on the enclosed disk for the interface to work properly.
Customer Review: yep, worked great! Summary: 5 Stars
surprised to find it actually worked with an old Casiotone MT-600 keyboard from like the 80s I found at a Goodwill. using XP sp2 and an old version of ACID Pro (4.0), very easy to set up. no problems.
and looking at other reviews, some people talk about how the whole input-output thing can be confusing, but these cables are pretty standard as far as interfaces go. most cables you buy will be like this -- the cables labeled "MIDI in" actually plug into your keyboard's "out" (and vice-versa). the directions enclosed are very clear, so if you follow them, you'll be fine.
Customer Review: Does the Job Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to play Synthesia (Piano Hero). I plugged it in to my Windows XP box. I plugged it in to my Yamaha keyboard. I played. Everything worked. The cable came with a driver CD but I never needed it.
I do notice some reviews say that the IN and OUT cables are switched or backwards. This is not true. MIDI IN on the cable plugs in to MIDI OUT on the keyboard, and vice versa. Because what the computer is putting OUT is going IN to the keyboard. It can be confusing but that's just the way it is.
Anyway, this cable worked like a charm.
