Like you I was skeptical that this would actually work as advertised until I went to a park with my girlfriend and her daughter. MY I-Touch was running low...so I connected it to the Duracell charger and I was able to use my I-Touch to surf the web while it was charging. When my I-Touch was fully charged (which took the same amount of time it would take if my I-Touch was connected to my PC) my girlfriend's daughter's I-Pod Nano was almost dead, so I then connected it to the Duracell charger and the day was saved because she was able to continue listening to her I-Pod and we didn't have to hear her complain that she was bored. It charged the I-Pod to full as well while the I-Pod was being used.
I would recommend getting a couple of these to take on long car trips, or on vacation as a backup power source for your digital camera.
It's so small and slim it can easily fit in your Shirt pocket and you wouldn't even know it was there.

This little device is great. Totally saved my MP3 player from silent oblivion on a recent long road trip. I have a Creative Zen and it gave me 2 full charges (about 40 hours of music total). Definitely recommend to anyone who has a power-hungry device that charges via USB. It's easy to use, charges pretty fast and is very compact and light. I would recommend getting a 110V AC --> USB adapter (like the kind that comes with an iPhone) if you're using it a lot, because it will charge faster when plugged directly into a wall outlet. USB ports on a computer don't have that much power, and if you only have an hour or so to charge up you can get a lot more mileage if plugged into the wall. iPhone adapters are $40 or something insane like that, so just search here on Amazon or Google or wherever. Should only be $10 or so.

This is the best and only practical solution to charge your iPhone/iPod when no power outlet is available. Even in my hotel room where the power outlet was distant from my bed and I wanted to use my iPhone's alarm to wake me up I connected this device overnight, while sleeping and woke up on time, while the iPhone was 99% charged from this device alone. This comes in contrast to another device which I previously bought and it turned out that one needs the iPhone/iPod to have a bit of power so it's battery life can be extended by a bit. With a flat battery that device did not work. This one does. I tried it when my iPhone battery got flat due to extensive book reading.Customer Review: Small, slim, light weight, easy to carry in your pocket.

I purchased this item from CompUSA for USD$12.99. Although this is the older model it still works great. Typical Duracell quality - small, slim, light weight, and very easy to carry in your pocket. Excellent battery. I use it as a portable backup charger and power supply to my smart phone (Samsung Vibrant). A great feature of this unit is the ability to charge BOTH the Duracell and your USB device at the same time thus requiring only one USB charging source.Customer Review: I keep one in the car and one in my travel carry on bag

This small charger is very handy to have if your cellphone, PDA or MP3 player runs out of juice and you don't/can't recharge.
This has got me through 10 hour flights, it's an excellect product. It provides several hours of play time on the ipod/itouch and has also saved me during long calls while out of the office.
My friends and family will be receiving this as their Christmas stocking stuffer this year.
