Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Black)Customer Review: Bought this for my son Summary: 5 Stars
My son just turned 18 and we got him an 80GB iPod for his birthday. We gave him an eVo4 iSkin case with it, but that thing was a piece of junk. It took forever to get it on. And after it was on, the iPod looked like an alien being from another planet. And my son couldn't dock the iPod in his Luna clock radio while it was in the iSkin case. So we searched around for another case. We wanted something that would protect the iPod from every day wear and tear without going overboard. The DLO HipCase is the perfect solution (at about 1/2 the price!). The iPod fits snugly within this nice leather case. Nice and soft inside. The fold open/fold down flap has a magnetic closure to keep it secure. Easy access to the click wheel, charging port, hold button, and headphone jack. And at night when my son wants to dock the iPod in his clock radio, he can just slip it out of its case. I think the iSkin case would've required a jackhammer to get it out every night. Aside from being very functional, this case also hits a home run in two other areas: 1.) It's very stylish. Very simple design, nice leather, nice belt clip. And 2.) It's very reasonably priced. If I didn't know how much I paid for it, after having seen the case in person and held it, I would've guessed it cost two or even three times more than it did. The DLO HipCase Leather Folio is the perfect companion to the iPod Classic. A classic looking case for a Classic iPod.
Customer Review: 5 years daily use and going strong Summary: 5 Stars
I am back looking again at this item because after daily use for years the leather cover on the clip has come loose. As I wind the wire twice around the clip I need to reattach the cover so that it does not wear out the wire. (The need to wind the headphone wire was learned from experience with an iPod mini which crashed to a marble floor as the headphones came out when it fell. With this case, even when I don't clip it securely to a belt or waistband, or I bend too much and it comes unclipped, the headphones are not pulled from the iPod when wrapped around the clip. Thus the iPod swings from the headphones rather than hitting the floor.)
The iPod has also fallen in the toilet while in this case, coming loose from the waistband, with no ill effects . . . The only negative to this item is the quality of the leather. But perhaps its being wholly worn out after years of use is not so bad. Overall I cannot rate this highly enough. A more expensive case, if there was one, might hold up better and when this finally cannot be further repaired I will look for one. If I don't find one I will buy another of these. As I don't care what it looks like I have secured the clip cover by stitching it back. It should last a few more years. Still, it is the quality of cheap leather shoes, not good leather shoes. A much better quality is found in Covertec items, but I don't think they make a case for an iPod.
Customer Review: Well-made and useful Summary: 5 Stars
I like this iPod case very much, using it every time I take my iPod out of my apartment. It does an excellent job of protecting my iPod Classic, so that I don't worry about banging it up in my purse. It is very well made, with a perfect fit, just the right amount of padding, and strong stitching; yet it allows easy accessibility to the iPod's controls. I should mention one attribute that I didn't realize this case lacked when I bought it: It doesn't have any place to stow the ear buds; implying that it is intended for people who want to go out with the ear buds in their ears, and don't want to remove them and put them away. I wanted a case that would hold the ear buds, as well as the iPod; but, all the same, I don't regret purchasing this item. Previously, I would carry my iPod in a sock to protect it in my purse. Now, I still use the sock with the case, just to keep the ear buds stowed. This works well for me. So know that, if you want an iPod case to both protect your iPod and store your ear buds when you're not listening, keep an old sock available!
Customer Review: Really nice case Summary: 5 Stars
The last case I had was a hard plastic one which kept my iPod free of scratches, but did very little else - not even preventing dirt from getting underneath, I had to open it up periodically to clean it. Not to mention it offered no cushioning whatsoever whenever I dropped it. So I find this one a *huge* improvement - the leather's soft, it isn't a pillow but it does offer some subtle cushioning. It's made of strong sturdy stuff, elastic on both sides so it can accommodate the 160 gig, but it isn't at all loose around my 120 gig. It is, in fact, very very snug - impossible to jostle within the case. The flip cover works well too, with a nice magnet keeping it closed that isn't too weak or strong - the belt clip magnet is very strong, but that's good too. There's a hole at the bottom to plug in the cable to charge it, and the one at the top for earphones is big enough so it doesn't twist it when you open the cover. Also, it's impossible to press the touchwheel by pressing on the outside cover. Another plus!
Customer Review: GREAT product for the money !!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this case now for about one year and between this case and the silicon skin I have on my 5th gen. 120Gb Ipod, it has saved me a new Ipod many times over!
I put the proctive skins on my screen and wheel, put that in a silicone skin and then put all of that in this nice leather case with pocket clip. It has kept my Ipod from being scratched and the silicon cover has kept it from being damaged from it being constantly droped. I work construction so all of these things are constantly happening (rubbing, droping and the like). I am buying a new leather case so when I go out it is not all beat up and looks nice.
I have taken the Ipod out of all the cases ocassionally to clean off the minute dust that seems to get in no matter what I do, and it still looks like NEW.
It is a little pricey but well worth the price when you consider the alternative, the price of a new Ipod!
