Customer Review: Gee who Knew???
Summary: 4 Stars

HI...I gave this product 4 stars because it has fixed most of the dvd's that I have tried it on, but the wheel should be replaced about every 3 or 4 dvd's. Okay, I got this from a friend for helping him fix his computer (actually i fixed it lol). He gave it to me after a friend of mine returned my xp cd scratched to high heaven. I think he must have been using it as a skim board at the beach..anybody know what that is? anyway..I was able to save the xp Cd and then I did several dvd's that my sisters kids left lying on the floor for awhile or something. they are are about 3 years old. Anyway..it fixed all of them except one that looked like it had holes in it. I didn't even know products like this existed. Well, is it worth it..you bet. You only have to fix about 2 dvd's to pay for itself. The only thing is that the rubber band or whatever you call it, does wear out rather quickly, but I guess it is a pretty good deal. They now have a motorized one, but I am not sure I would trust putting a motor on this thing as much work as it is to crank this thing. anyway..it's good and can't wait for newer and easier on the wrist products. So far I guess this is the best there is for the money. The question is ...do you need one of these? Yeah....course you do. It's like not having a hammer or pair pliers in the house. Of course if you don't have Cd's or DVD's then guess you don't.

Customer Review: Why is everyone having such a hard time with this?
Summary: 4 Stars

I honestly don't know why there are so many 1 and 2 star reviews for this product...I was recommended this by a friend who said he uses it to repair both CD's and DVD's. I needed to fix a few of my CD's (none of my DVD's have the first scratch - guess cause I don't use them in my car all the time) so I got it today and gave it a shot.... I've only done 2 CD's so far and the results have been nothing less than outstanding. One of the CD's I fixed had gotten caught in my car's CD player and had pretty bad scratches on the top of the disc as well as the bottom (!) and after 3 complete uses of the skip doctor I don't have a single problem getting it to play every track.... yes you do have to have patience as it turns VERY slowly, and that's the only reason as to why I didn't give it 5 stars, and I'm taking a break from it for a minute because my right arm is a bit stiff...but this is the only downside I've found with this product so far. It's already fixed two of my favorite CD's that I thought I would have to toss out because they were unplayable before... and I've still got more to do. I say it's a extremely good bargain...and you'll also get some excersise from using it - an added bonus for all of us who play video games and watch movies and listen to our discmans a lot.

Customer Review: It's a great product in my book
Summary: 4 Stars

NOw, I've not used it on many CD's, the two that I used were CD-R disks and one has several major scratches and on one try, I got it to play much better, but it needs another pass or two to get it working perfectly. The first one was done perfectly after going it one direction, and then the other as directed in the instructions.

The key is to keep the disc moist while cranking, which means respraying as necessary. I grant you it's not always easy to see where you began when you reverse direction. I have the manual version and I don't think it took me 25 minutes to do one CD. It may not be perfect, but according to the box, it will do virtually any 3.5 inch disc, be it CD, DVD, CD-ROM - whatever. In any event, I find it a pretty good product. I've not used it on DVD's as all my DVD's are in great shape.

If you take reasonable care of your CD/DVD etc collection, the need for this product is not as great, but like alot of things, if the CD is used outside the home, in the car w/ a single disc player or what have you, chances are it will get scratches, and some enough to cause mistracking. Having this product handy should restore the majority of the skipping discs.
