I just used this device on an audio CD which I had gouged accidentally, causing the thing to skip. I have no complaints. The fluid appears to be clean water with some alcohol to aid evaporation, much like eyeglass cleaner. Since the Skip Dr. works by grinding the surface of the disc, I didn't just wet the disc, but kept it covered with a layer of fluid as I worked, in order to make sure that debris would be floated away and not cause additional scratches. In the end, the disc's surface was uniformly dulled, and my scratch was gone. This dulling is evidently not severe enough to damage playback, since my disc now plays well. Perhaps if Digital Innovations were to provide a second disc with a finer abasive, the dulling could be polished out altogether.Customer Review: Works like a champ

I bought this because I have 3 music CDs that have skipping problems. I should say HAD skipping problems.I opened the box, read their little quick get-started sheet, slapped in my old U2 Joshua Tree CD, sprayed it a few times, and started cranking the wheel.
In less than 2 minutes I had cranked the CD around twice, removed the CD, (which I accidentally dropped on the floor because it sort of popped out) wiped it dry, buffed it, and put it in the CD player and went to the track that I knew had skipping at the beginning of the song.
The CD played like new.
Three CDs fixed, it has paid for itself already tonight.
Now, if I could just remember which of my other CDs have skips that I've forgotten about....

I bought this gem thinking that if it trashed my scratched discs (the ones found under your car seat in the spring covered in road salt and sand), I didn't care because the discs were totally unplayable anyway. 9 years later and a few resurfacing wheels later, I am still repairing discs with it. I have resurfaced countless CDs, CD ROMS, Playstation Games, Playstation 2 games, and DVDs with it never ruining the disc or making it worse. Those that claim it makes their discs worse or ruined after using it are doing something wrong, have deep gouges in their disc, have chips in the reflective aluminum, or are resurfacing the label side. It may be the best gadget I have ever owned. No worries.Customer Review: satisfied customer

I dont understand why anyone can not make this device work. When I got it I followed the instructions exactly and tried it on a few scratched up music cds, after 1 or 2 goes on the skip doctor these were fixed to almost new quality. Then I tried it on the xbox game halo, which was pretty scratched up. Before the game did not load the begining sequence and the cooperative mode just did not load, I used the skip doctor once it got rid of 3/4 of the scratches and works at virtually new speed. If you follow the instructions EXACTLY, the device will be able to fix any cd and you will get a lot out of it.Customer Review: We Love It

When my husband got this for my birthday, I was disappointed. However, since I have repaired CDs and DVDs, I am so grateful!! CDs from high school (over 15 years)which I could not listen to are great again, DVDs that skip badly and ready for the trash are watchable again! Sometimes it takes 2-3 passes through the machine, (mine is electric) but it's great. I have even repaired some of the Netflix DVDs I have gotten.
I don't hesitate to recommend the $ be spent for this. I am sure, that until CD/DVD are obsolete, we will need a repair tool like this.
