Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Digital Innovations 10185 Skip Dr. Motorized AutoMax Scratch Repair SystemCustomer Review: Fantasic Results! Summary: 5 Stars
Tired the Audiovox Surface SURF404 product first. However, that product failed to repair deep circumferential scratches (the kind which cause skipping and freezing). The SkipDr actually FIXED these problems! True enough, some discs required 3-4 cycles to achieve a complete repair. Easily repaired several discs from various DVD box sets which were constantly freezing, avoiding replacement costs that would have exceeded many times the cost of the SkipDr unit. Just follow the instructions (particularly fully wetting the disc and buffing in a radial direction) and your discs will be like new again. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Fixed my heavily scratched disc easily: well worth the $31 Summary: 5 Stars
Buy it!
I had a disc that was scratched by my Xbox 360 when I accidentally tipped it over. I didn't think this would work, my disc was really bad. I thought I'd try anyway, to save me $30. It worked on the first try! This product has already payed back it's price.
For people who don't know how this works (I didn't), what this does is removes the scratched area of you disk. If you look at the disc, you'll see an area of plastic. The data is stored at the top of the disc, where the label is. Sanding down the plastic does not damage the disc's data, and that's what this machine does.
Customer Review: Good Machine Summary: 5 Stars
I haven't tried this product, but i have tried the hand cranker. It works great. The reason why people have had problems is because 1: not enough fluid was sprayed on the disc. 2: As you can see, there are model numbers to these automax systems. That means they are fixing defects in it. So people who are buying this from 3rd parties may be getting an older model number that has defects in it. The newest model has the AC adapter included. My friend does have this, however and it is the newest model. It has worked everytime. So if you are having problems with this, get a test disc and try the newest model.
Customer Review: Skip Doctor Premier Summary: 5 Stars
I had one DVD with a inch scratch that ran rotationally that I could hardly get through with out the unit just freezing up. On the rare occasion I could get through it the stalling and pixleing would last about 5 minutes.I saw this machine advertised so I ordered it and recieved it yesterday,I read the map real good and then ran the bad disc through this morning. Iv'e got to say the machine works slicker than snot on a door knob. The scratch was deep and still shows a little but the Disc plays perfectly now with just one time through. How the unit holds up over the long haul we'll have to wait and see.
Customer Review: Worked Great for Me Summary: 5 Stars
I had a Wii disc with a disc read error. I tried rubbing out the scratches with toothpaste, along with several of the other most recommended scratch removal techniques, all to no avail. I bought this despite all the bad reviews, and followed the directions precisely. I still got the disc read error after the first pass, but after the second pass the disc is working again. The Skip Dr was easy to set up, easy to use, worked as advertised, and was cheaper than buying another copy of the game - even a used one, since the game is a recent release. I can't find any reason to give it less than 5 stars.
