After reading Amazon reviews I bought the DP-TP100 tripod to go with my Panasonic TZ5 camera with 10X zoom. I needed a lightweight, compact tripod for travel in the wilderness, bicycle touring, as well as urban domestic and foreign places. My first use was on a 7 day Deso/Gray Canyons, Green River raft trip June 2009. I had a good time shooting friends around camp from an unobtrusive distance as well as canyon scenes. The tripod is somewhat delicate when fully extended, so just be careful. When compacted to its 10 inch size it works on camp tables, rocks, logs, etc. Camera, tripod, extra batteries and related stuff all fit into a 10x7x3 Eagle Creek zippered padded carrier from REI. Like others, I checked various camera stores and found nothing as light and compact, and the prices were at least 4x the price of this one.
