Dunno what they're talking about in the description where it says 480Mbps, however on the technical specs, it says 16Mbps. The 16Mbps is correct, which is nowhere as fast as 480, but it's definitely not slow. I've used this with XP, Vista, and Seven, back and forth, through each one. It works, for all of them. I've even run it through a desktop with XP to a laptop with XP, Vista, and Seven (not that it would make a difference, but I just thought I'd throw that tidbit in). So, if you're skeptical because this is much less expensive than the other file transfer cables, don't be. If you pay $60+ you might be getting 480Mbps, but if you just need a basic data transfer cable and don't work in the music or video industry, this is perfectly fine (and no, having a million songs on your computer doesn't make you a part of the music industry, however with all the music you've stolen, you might as well own a share in it - I am simply referring to those who have thousands of WAV or FLAC files; Mp3s and Mp4s, or whatever, are highly compressed).
So anyway, without any hesitation, if you need a file transfer cable, get this. There aren't that many which are bidirectional and work on most OS.
