Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of DeLorme Earthmate PN-20 Waterproof Hiking GPSCustomer Review: Sweet deal Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this to use while geocaching. I've found a couple with it and it works great. The software that comes with it is awesome, that is what made me get this one instead of a Garmin since I'd have to buy the software also.
There's a firmware update coming out sometime that will make true paperless caching available on the PN-20. The only thing that isn't great is the turn by turn. There just isn't enough power to re-calculate a route. But overall, this is an awesome deal.
Customer Review: Delorme PN-20 Summary: 4 Stars
I bought the unit mainly for geocaching. Have been using it for about a month and it works great. Signal strength is good even in heavy cover, it puts me right on the coords, has ample internal memory + SD card, and it transfers info [...] with no problems. The two complaints I have are the short battery life( I now use rechargables ) and the software is complicated to me ( I ain't to smart ) When you compare the features and price it's hard to beat.
Customer Review: Great GPS for the money Summary: 4 Stars
I have used Delorme software and laptop GPS for the last several years and found their software superior to Garmins. I like the flexibility of being able to update the maps myself with my own data. Not to mention you get more for the money with Delorme than Garmin. The 60csx is an excellent GPS but has been just out of my price range and the PN20 is more than comparrable.
Customer Review: Great Handheld GPS Summary: 4 Stars
I have owned a Garmin Handheld GPS for many years and I bought this as a replacement for it.
Pros:
- Great bright clear screen
- Good GPS reception
- Sturdy construction
- Attractive design
- Intuitive menus
Cons:
- Had difficulty with installing software on my Vista laptop
Customer Review: Great tool - limited on ram though Summary: 4 Stars
It's not like I NEED 8 GB of RAM, but I bought it to replace the 2 GB card in order to post a lot more maps. Bad luck for me, it doesn't like the "new" higher GB cards. Oh well, it's still an awesome tool and plenty rugged. The graphics are easy to read and understand with the precision pretty good, even for Alaska.
