Customer Review: Deceptively Large Bag Summary: 4 Stars
When I first got it, I was like "meh... so what? A dinky little bag with a Dell logo on it. All looks and probably no function." In fact, I have had this backpack for almost two years before I ever used it! But I'll gladly take my lumps.
On a recent weekend trip, it carried:
Dell 6000D
AC adapter
Wireless Mouse
1 pair khakis
2 polo shirts
2 sets underwear
2 pairs socks
A small bag of toiletries
A set of Sony NC headphones in their semi-rigid case
A BlackBerry, cell phone and related chargers for each
Compact digital camera in case
A book & magazine
Spare USB cables
A couple of memo sized note books
Pens, pencils, etc.
Sunglasses in hard case.
I kid you not; this bag swallowed all that and wasn't even bulging. I'll take a small amount of credit for being a savvy packer on a continuing quest to travel light, but the bag is impressive. It was extremely well-balanced with good handles, and had no problem carrying it onto the plane or storing it under the seat. Mostly, I carry it by the top handle, but for long stretches of walking through terminals, I find the straps when worn on my back surprisingly comfortable.
I'm not really a backpack person as a rule, but I'm very pleased with it. It looks great, and carries a lot.
I do not use it daily, so I can't speak to its durability. It doesn't have the "overbuilt" look of some pricier bags, so I'm not sure how more frequent use would wear on it.
Customer Review: Good backpack Summary: 4 Stars
When work ordered me a Dell Precision 17" last year, I requested a backpack for a carrying case. This is the bag I received. It has held up well over the last year and now I am considering buying the bag for my personal notebook.
There are 2 zippered side compartments, large enough to hold most notebook power adapters. There are two water bottle holders. There is a zipper compartment that is relatively shallow, but can hold several cd cases. There is a elastic closed compartment. Another zippered compartment that is more than enough to hold my oversized ac adapter. Another compartment to hold pens manila folders, et cetera. Lastly there is the main compartment. There are two seperate zippers to access. One zipper to access the compartment to store stuff. There are two dividers to hold papers. Lastly there is a zipper in the back to access the padded notebook sleeve. The sleeve has a elastic strap to secure the laptop.
I have used the bag on several trips, including some single overnight trips where this was my only bag.
The bag is comfortable, but I would not want to go backpacking with it.
Customer Review: Great backpack except straps Summary: 4 Stars
Came with my Inspiron laptop 6...7 years ago, and I've been using it since. The padding inside the right shoulder strap bunched up and is pretty messed up almost immediately, and hurts my right shoulder when it gets heavy. Since it is a big pack, and has compartment for many many things, it does get heavy often because I can fill it up with lots of stuff.
I like the space it has - especially when not holding a laptop. The laptop space is a nice divider for loose sheets/xeroxed articles. I also like the many compartments that holds things in place - pens, cellphones, eye glasses, water bottles, music player (has head phone hole), keys, etc.
I don't like the messed up shoulder strap... also I wish it has a horizontal strap somewhere, because it's spacy, and the weight when all that space gets filled, combined with messed up shoulder strap, really hurts that shoulder... . I just bought an Asus laptop, and the backpack that came with it doesn't match up to this one. Although the price it's going for on here while I write this is somewhat insane... $60 vs $12 on eBay?
