First impressions: Made in China. Very generic, cheap presentation, but what matters is that it works well. I wouldn't leave this around small children, as the fans seem a bit exposed on the bottom.
I have a very hot-running GPU on my laptop, and it's idling at about 15 degrees lower than usual now (C). Tasks that previously brought my system to a halt now run rather smoothly. I've done a before-and-after test with CPUID - I didn't record exact numbers, but everything is certainly running cooler. It works.
Like others said, it's not designed to be the most elegant solution, it's just designed to be the most effective. I give it a thumbs up.

I have an HP dv20000 at 14.1 inches its a little less than average sized. This unit fits it well and is USB powered which is very convinient. My laptop used to run very warm, now its just a little warm if keeping this unit constantly on. The only thing I don't like is that it raises it more then you would expect, especially from the back, and theres nothing under neath it so you can't use your laptop, well, in your lap, it has to be on a desk. Overall good product but keep it on your desk and expect your laptop to be pretty high in the air and tilted, some may like this but I don't. I also do not like the look, it looks very cheaply made and strange under my laptop.Customer Review: Excellent Product

First, i was thinking to get Notepaul for my 17" notebook. However,after reading the review i thought let't try this first. Fortunetly, this product went beyond my expectation. The fans operate in very silent mode and i have to check once in a while whether they are running. The notebook don't get heated much even i operate it for more than 6 hours.Product is also very light and i carry the cooler with me always. This product doesn't cover my notebook completely and this is why i am giving 4 stars only. I wish they have a bigger notebook cooler fan like this.
I would really recommend this product to every one.

Here is my simplified review:
-It serves its purpose pretty well.
-It is not any louder than my HP laptop's fan.
-It blows air up, so it is probably best for a bottom air intake laptop.
-The bottom is open, so it is not even an option to use on your lap.
-If you use a powered usb splitter to power it, then it would be great!
Powering a device from your computer (like this cooling pad) means that your computer is working to power it. My computer does feel cooler, but it runs just as much or more.
For use on a desk, this is a good cooling pad and price!

this fan works like it said it would. the fan makes a very small hum when its on; my wifes PC fan makes more noise than this. I noticed a difference right after turning it on. My laptop used to get so hot it almost hurt to touch it. I used to prop it up with whatever was nearby to help air flow underneath it. but now, it doesnt. and it doesnt seem to have any power issues. wouldve given 5 stars execpt it seemed to take a long time shipping. i ordered with a bunch of stuff to get the free shipping. some things came in 2 days, some a week. this took almost 3 weeks.
