Before I bought this...
I was playing World of Warcraft and after about 3 or 4 hours, my pc would overheat. The bottom of my laptop was scalding hot, and would reboot.
I bought this, and I can play World of Warcraft from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. (11am, to 1am at least) (yes, im a nerd!)
AND my laptop is COOL TO THE TOUCH.
After I purchased this, I closely monitored the temp of my PC, while it was being shipped to me, so I could compare the numbers.
Before I used this, my PC was running 70 to 90 degrees. (terrible!)
After I used this, my PC stays around 40 to 45 degrees ALL DAY.
I have no problems with the back, as it stays on my computer desk and I personally dont have a problem if I take my laptop away from my desk I dont play WoW anyway, and then my pc doesn't over heat.
Anyway. I recommend this one of all things.

This cooler ROCKS! Not recommended for a true lap experience due to open fan set-up, but on a table it ROCKS! Comfortable typing angle as well. Fit both a Mac and Dell well enough. Bought 1 for a MAC that was screaming hot - original cooling function strongly lacking - and now it's cool as ice. Bought another for a Dell and its fan NEVER comes on compared to wimpy Dell installed cooling fan. Keeps 85-90% of bottom surface area cool, but most importantly, over the hottest areas. Can be a battery drain, but enough for an hour or so. I would DEFINITELY recommend this for a flat surface, but NOT on a bed or human lap.Customer Review: works fine in desk

I bought this for using on my desktop with a 17 in toshiba laptop. Keeps computer cooler at least on desk. which is where my 17 in is most of the time i bought a netbook for mobility lol. I dont think this would do to well on lap sice fans are open. also with 17 in. about in. to in. half hangs over each side and it tilts computer slightly towards you which i like. would probably fit 15 in perfect. does not use much power since it is usb powered and moves air enough to cool mine down. Maybe not for everyone or all applications but does th jpb fine for what i got it for.Customer Review: stay cool

My Dell Precision M6400 has a higher end processor and gpu so it runs quite hot. Dell's dumb product developmet, which placed vents on the bottom of the laptop, doesn't help the issue. This cooler is great for keeping my laptop breathing. The CPU temps dropped by 30 degrees celcius, and my GPU temps are constant at 70 degrees C. The best parts of the design of this cooler is that its light and "customizable". You can change the orientation of the fans from either blowing or sucking, which allows you to create an optimal orientation for your laptop.Customer Review: Keeping it cool!

After getting this pad I thought that the size and simplicity could not be effective however after taking it out on the road and using this for a week either it's me or this thing is really working. My laptop used to function more sporadic and at the end of a seminar day it would be hot, hot, hot. Now when the day is done after using the Cooler Pad the laptop is not only cool to the touch it also functions more efficiently. Just like a car...the cooler you keep the components the better it functions.
