Customer Review: A good deal
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought one of these in April 2008. It lasted until October. Technically it still works, but the fans have become very loud and I'm not sure it's actually working very well. So, I decided to order two more (one for my home laptop, one for my work laptop). People may think it's weird that I'm giving something 4 stars that I had to replace after 6 months, but it worked really well while it lasted and it's really not that expensive to replace. I love how it sucks out the heat from my laptops. I notice that when I have my laptops on but the Cooling Pads off, my bedroom is significantly warmer than when have the Cooling Pads on. Also, it's wonderful to have it on when you're putting your laptop on your lap. It definitely keeps your legs cool. Now that I have the new ones, I realize how silent they are. So, I guess if it starts getting loud you know it's time for a replacement. By the way, I'm not sure if it's evident from the description, but you basically just plug it into one of your USB ports.

Customer Review: Feels flimsy but works OK
Summary: 4 Stars

While this cooling pad feels cheap & flimsy, it does the job. The lightweight material actually comes in handy since I have been keeping it hooked up to my laptop nearly all the time and I just carry the two around together. The USB cord is the right length since my Apple MacBook Pro (MBP) has ports on both sides. However, the chill pad itself is a little too small for my 15" MBP. (It's a much better fit under my IBM ThinkPad.) Additionally, the MBP heats up so much, my cooling needs are probably too much for this chill pad to handle; although, it has made some difference in the heating problem and at least now I can sit the cooling pad on my lap instead of the oh-so-warm laptop! I've used this cooling pad consistently for several weeks since I bought it and have experienced no issues with it. Overall, I'd say it's a good purchase for the money I spent.

Customer Review: Works
Summary: 4 Stars

Ok, I found that my Dell Latitude was overheating (in Linux only, oddly enough) and suddenly turning off. I've had it for years and this was never a problem -- maybe running Linux from a USB Flash drive has something to do with it.

Anyway, the Datastor cooler seems to have solved the problem. .

It doesn't fit that solidly on the Latitude, so I have to worry about it sliding off. I often set it on my bed, and the bed has a way of bouncing from time to time.

Also, I do an odd thing -- I often pick up the Latitude and read it almost like you would hold up a book and read it. But with the Datastor, I then have to make sure it sets back on it in the correct position.

So, it isn't a perfect solution, and I'm not sure I will continue to use it. It's a nice interim fix, though.

Customer Review: Great Deal Considering the Price
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this for about 1.5 months now and i can't complain. before using it, my laptop would sometimes turn off from overheating when playing intensive games, but now i never have to look twice at the temp monitor. two of the fans are placed right under heat sinks, so the temp drop is immediately noticeable. I only wish it were larger to better accomodate my 15.4 widescreen laptop, as there is about 1 inch overhang on the sides and .5 inch overhang on the front and back. the fans are quieter than those of my comp, so it isnt annoying to use at all. well worth buying over more expensive competitors.

Customer Review: Does what its supposed to
Summary: 4 Stars

It does what it's meant to do. and yes it looks like it was made from cheap plastic but for me its holding up, my laptop used to get hot and now it stays at a cool temperature all the time, this pad doesn't lower the computers temperature but just works well enough for the computer not to get hot which is good. for the price it was well worth it. I've had it for more than a month and it doesn't look like its going anywhere soon. But if you treat it like garbage and drop it believe me it will break. treat it well and it will work for you for a long while. 4 stars
