I purchased this for my HP laptop which overheated often. I have not had that problem since! This is a terrific product. It is quiet...I often forget it's even there. The USB plug is handy as it doesn't take away any USB outlets as you can still plug a USB cord into the end of this plug. Very inventive!! I Bought this for my dell Laptop (17 in.) and it works great. I can really tell the difference in temperature. It is very silent and what I like the most is that it has three green LED lights that indicate when the fans are on, I ASSUME that if any of the three fans stops working, the light will go off. I have tried 2 different Targus cooling pads, and this one is BY FAR theeeeeee VERY BEST! I have a 17" laptop that I now can leave on from 6:00am to 10:00pm, and it stays COLD! It is also VERY THIN and VERY LIGHT. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT and I'M GIVING IT AS GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I bought 4 of these. Two that go under my laptop and my wifes and two to set in a cabinet that houses my router and 4 external hard drives. I set the drives and router on top of the cool pad. I was having probs with my Dell overheating and shutting down. Since I started using this, I have not had that problem. It really is quiet! A previous review said it was a tad flimsy, I would agree but I also set it on a laptop pad so I wont break it. It was well worth the price.
