I love this item! I live in a semi-rural area where lots of neighbors have dogs. I take a long walk each day. When I walk by, the dogs charge their fences and bark at me. I am not concerned about the dogs being aggressive, but I find the noise irritating. Then, I got the Dazer II.
There is one particular dog that likes to bark at me the whole length of his property line, following me along the fence as I walk by. The first day I walked by with the Dazer, he barked and I said, "Quiet," and pushed the button on the Dazer. The dog stopped barking and looked down. He followed me for a few feet and started barking again. I pushed the button, again. He stopped barking and went and hid behind a car until I passed. Nearly all the dogs on my walk act the same way. Using the Dazer once or twice is all it takes. They just stop barking and stand there. I don't know how they know to be quiet, but it works nearly every time.
I have noticed that a couple of small dogs don't seem to be affected. I am not sure why. Also, there is a range limit of about 20 ft. for good effect. Although, if you use the Dazer on a dog at close range, you can later use it at a longer range. They will be able to hear the sound, know how it feels at close range and just leave you alone.
I recommend this item without reservation.

Like everyone else plagued by their neighbor's dogs, and seeking any possible solution; I wasn't too sure this would work. However, I was so desperate for peace and quiet I had to try it for the relatively small cost. I accepted the delivery and with giddy childhood excitement I ripped the dazer from the packaging and ran outside. On cue, the neighbor's Pomeranian and Chihuahua (who are always outside by the way) started yapping at the sound of the sliding door opening. I pointed the dazer (I was within 30 feet) and hit the button for 2 seconds. The dazer stopped them in their tracks. Every subsequent bark got a 2 second blast. After 3 iterations the barking went more to a whimper or grumble. After 2 days of me doing this exercise, they no longer bark when I open the sliding door. When my dogs run out (who by the way NEVER bark) to go potty in the dog run they still bark but I point the dazer at them and blamo it stops and they run to the other side of their yard. It's nice because I can point the dazer and focus the signal at them without affecting my dogs. I figure after another week I won't need the dazer at all anymore. Awesome training tool to quietly and humanely eliminate annoyance barking for your neighbor's dogs!!! You have to make sure you can get within 20-30 feet though, after that it loses its effectiveness.Customer Review: Amazing... it worked straight out of the box

I purchased 2 products a cheap on and the other is a bit more costly. I dd that to train my dog (and others from the neighborhood... LOL). 2 different of these training aids helps in that the pet does not get use to the constant ultra sound (when misbehaving). The thought goes like this... if we humans can learn to ignore certain sounds... so can the dogs! And when i used only this 1 training aid, my dog DID learn to ignore it (wish i had also opted for the shock collar).
This is the best of the 2 products i purchased. it works immediately. The other 1 I purchased has a different tone, so it also helps. I used this product the first time, straight out of the box (batteries included) to stop the yapping of our mixed terrier dog. Guess what, it worked! No More Noise!! Our dog hates this product so much, all I have to do is lift it usually without operating it and give the "key word" that tells her (dog) that I no longer like the disruption she is causing. My "key word" is Quiet!
Prior to owning this product, I though I would go nuts from the constant barking and disobedience. I honestly recommend if you have similar feelings of discomfort from noisy barking dogs, I think you should get 2 of these products. 1 for use at home and 1 for in the car (never leave home without it!)

With barking dogs all around our house, I've been at the end of my rope with them. I've reported them to the city and the owners still don't care to take care of the problem. My only option left is to take them to court which at this point I prefer not to do since I have to live next door to them.
One night about two weeks ago they were barking outside our basement window, 3 little yippers. I found this device, saw the reviews and thought for around 30 bucks I'm not really losing much. If anything it would be a good training device for my own dog.
Received it a few days later and was very excited to get the dogs outside barking at me. Well they did and when I aimed the Dazer at them from about 20 feet, they stopped barking, cocked their heads to the side and ran inside their home. It works every time. They absolutely stop barking.
Our neighbor with a fairly quiet dog stopped by today. He asked if our painters threw something at his dog because the dog came running to the door whining with her tail between her legs. My wife said she might have picked up the sound of the Dazer. I tried it out on that dog tonight and in a moment she was whining and running to the door.
Get one and try it out. For 30 bucks it's worth a try for some peace of mind!

I purchased a Dog Dazer in 1996 and it still has the original battery in it. Two weeks ago a friend was attacked by a dog; she was holding a book and shoved it toward him so he bit it instead of her, all while she was very firmly yelling at it, which usually works for her. I zapped the dog with the Dazer and it stopped, then charged again, so I zapped it again. It whined and ran away, this happened about two more times and then it left us alone so we could keep walking. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I've used it on a dog that was actually attacking, and it worked all those times.
The packaging said that it doesn't really work on a calm dog or on a dog that's not upset or in a very excited state. That has been true for me. Naturally I've tried it on different dogs to make sure it at least is making a sound (especially with a battery this old). Sometimes it has stopped a dog from barking, but it has only worked as a deterrent on very angry, attacking dogs (in my case). If the dog is happy, calm, curious, or playful, it had absolutely no effect other than a glance in my direction. So either the instructions on the current packaging are misleading (very possible), or else a lot of reviewers have not read the instructions clearly.
