There is not a whole lot I can say about this switch. I plugged all the cables from my network into the switch and everything worked just fine. The front panel LED's display orange for 100 Mbps connections and green for 1 Gbps connections which is nice.The green technology to reduce power consumption is a good idea. We all know how all our gadgets can add to our electricity costs.
All my new computer builds have motherboards with built in gigabyte Ethernet, so this was a fitting edition. I use a Linksys router to connect to the Internet; however, I wasn't willing to pay for an expensive unit to get a built in gigabyte switch. Adding this D-Link switch was an affordable solution, and it has eight ports for future expansion. All I need to do now is replace my network drive with one that has a gigabyte Ethernet interface and I'll be sailing.
Customer Review: QoS switch wonderful for VOIP, new HW revision even better!

I brought this switch for one star office six month ago. The QoS feature made the VOIP call so good (work with D-Link VPN router that can set the QoS). So I decided to buy another one from Amazon. This one is even better with improved hardware!
I noticed some customers reported the life span only about a year or so from some past reviews. So when I brought last one six months ago, I opened it up, and glued on a heatsink to the switch IC, that significantly reduced the switch IC temperature.
This one I just brought from Amazon, I opened it try to add heatsink. To my pleasant supurise, this revision hardware already have heatsink on the switch IC!
Immediately VOIP sound quality improvement with this switch. Even when we were doing ISP speed test, the VOIP phone call not affected at all. Amazing!
Customer Review: Easy way to add gigabit Ethernet ports

I don't have a lot to say about this D-Link switch. I plugged it into a port on my gigabit router (also D-Link), and it has worked flawlessly to give my seven more ports. (One port is used to connect the switch to the router.) I made sure that I upgraded all my cables to CAT6 for full gigabit speeds. While I cannot verify the speeds, my NAS definitely detects a gigabit connection, and the speed of transfer is noticeably faster than my older 10/100 MB router and network. The switch also has indicators on the front panel to show activity, and indicators that show what speed is detected (gigabit, 100 MB, or 10 MB). For technical users, I understand this switch is unmanaged, so it does not have traffic priorities. However, it is non-blocking so all ports can be used simultaneously at full speed. I have a fairly large Local Area Network (LAN)spread out over two floors that required 12 ethernet ports. I purchased two of these D-Link DGS-2208 desktop switches and connected them in tandem for a total of 13 available ports. They replaced 2 Linksys switches that failed within the first year. I purchased these particular units based the following requirements: Neat appearance of installation ( all cabling must enter/exit at rear of switches and be neatly routed and bundled, clean appearance of the D-Link switch, 10/100/1000, and finally the great reliability of other D-Link products that I own.
I have now had these units in service for quite some time, and my LAN has yet to experience a failure. I strongly recommend D-Link for quality and Amazon for the lowest price and fastest service.

This is an absolute must for additions within the home or work area. Very easy to install and set up. Keep in mind that you have to have the right type of internet speed for this to work to it's potential. I'm using a high speed modem that I was having problems with initially with loosing internet (cable). After having hooked this up have never had to rest the modem since (approx 2 weeks now). I use this in my basement and purchased it to hide and place over head and wall connections during renovations into an apartment for my daughter. Currently using 7 connections and cannot see any speed lose. Tested with utbe on all 6 computers with same video. All were buffered out well before the video was half over. (Video was a music video) A must have for home or small office wired settings.
