Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of D-Link DGS-2205 5-Port 10/100/1000 Desktop SwitchCustomer Review: Great value Summary: 5 Stars
A very reasonably priced gigabit switch with 5 ports -- we use over a dozen of these in our office without any difficulties. Unlike various Netgear units we've had, none of these have failed or had bad ports.
Gigabit support seems good, though I've never bothered (or needed) to run any throughput tests.
And for being called Green Ethernet, I'm not really sure how many power savings there can be from a little switch like this...though nonetheless it's always positive to hear companies taking this under consideration when designing products.
Customer Review: Gigabit for CHEAP Summary: 5 Stars
This item was purchased to provide network connectivity from my Airport Extreme to my home theatre. It has worked wonderfully and I have yet to have an issue. There was pretty much no setup and has worked perfectly.
There have been several times that I will be downloading a demo/movie on my PS3 and also playing a multiplayer online game over Xbox Live with no noticeable lag.
This item is very compact and has a very discreet design. This was huge since I really didn't want people to notice my switch before seeing my receiver.
Customer Review: Best value for money Switch Summary: 5 Stars
I use this with a Gigabit router (WRT 320) for creating the Cluster computing. It gives the the 1000Mb/s bandwidth and with cat6 cabling there are no errors in the packets transmitted.
If you are looking for unmanaged switch dont even think about any thing else.
There is one drawback if you connect a 10/100 Mb/s connection to this one it fallback to lower speeds. Solution buy 2 switches one 10/100 and another 10/100/1000 and dedicate them to respective connection. After all this is a cheap (but good quality)switch rite?
Customer Review: Perfect in my living room Summary: 5 Stars
I've got this sitting on the computer in my living room that's connect to my HDTV. The switch comes off a CAT-6 line from the main computer in the basement and connects to the computer, PS2, Wii, and HD-DVD player. (There's a Blu-Ray drive in the computer.) It's run for months without a single problem, allows for full Internet connectivity and handles the HD streaming I run through it all the time. I can't recommend a better small switch than this one. In fact, I'll be buying another one soon to hook up some extra devices in the basement.
Customer Review: Excellent switch Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered two of these - received version C in case any one is wondering what version is shipping these days. Opened them up, plugged them in, and went to work. No issues at all. Later on I looked at the manual on the included CD (there is no printed manual included). Of course you don't really need it unless you want to understand the color coding on the LEDs. They change color depending on the speed each port is operating at. Really nice that these work out of the box with nothing to set up or install. Highly recommended.
