Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USBCustomer Review: Early Report - No power failure to date Summary: 5 Stars
The unit appears to do a great job. I have a high performance tower and 24 inch monitor plugged into it and the software indicates it will stay on for 30 minutes if the power fails. I say it appears to do a great job in that the electricity has not gone off yet and I cannot confirm the backup time. The narrow dimension makes it a good fit between my tower computer and my desk. The included software makes it easy to check on the units health. There are some critics that report the information screen on the unit stays on and that it is bright and annoying. That isn't true. Like my APC ups unit, the screen comes on for a few seconds if something additional draws power through the unit. The only light that stays on during normal operation is the on/off button. I have placed the unit on the floor out of my line of site. I don't see the on/off button and there is no issue there.
Customer Review: Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS system Summary: 5 Stars
An excellent battery backup UPS to protect your computer system. From several other reviews, I found it was necessary to download the latest version of the Powerpanel software for Windows 7 compatability. The install then went seamlessly. Based on the software calculations {135 watts draw - Dell XPS tower, 24 inch lcd monitor, 1 terabyte external drive)I have approximately 40 minutes battery runtime before shutdown. Have not experienced a black out yet, but the unit diagnostics worked fine. Very informative, easy to read blue lcd display on unit itself. Only quibble, there is only one transformer-spaced outlet on the unit. With many low power computer accessories out there, a least one more outlet with this spacing would be nice. This is a compact, but heavy unit. Amazon's low price plus free super-saver shipping made this a real bargain! Overall, highly-recommended!
Customer Review: Works great with my laser printer Summary: 5 Stars
I have two printers: an Epson ink jet and an HP LaserJet 6MP. The manual for the 6MP says that it can draw as much as five amps. I know everyone says that not to use a UPS with laser printers, but there's a reason why my printer is still working great after 13 years.
When my crappy Tripplite UPS died (I'll never buy another Tripplite product again -- ugh), I decided to buy this one to replace it. Every couple of months we'll have a very short black-out, and so I have UPSes protecting all my electronic equipment. I knew I needed a powerful UPS to handle the spikes in load from the printer.
I'm happy to say that it works great. Even with my laser printer working, the load never goes above 60%. So I say that as long as your laser printer doesn't go beyond six amps (maybe seven), this UPS should work for you.
Customer Review: Solid Unit Summary: 5 Stars
This should be the basic for most computers. 900W is a bit lower than I like, but close enough to my baseline of 1000W. Folks who purchase UPS devices need to be aware of the Wattage limits. Low Wattage UPS devices are of little to no use when the combined rating of all electronics exceeds the min UPS rating. In short, total up the Watts for all of the items to be plugged into the battery side of the UPS and that is what you should use as the basic power rating when buying a new UPS. Pay attention to the Mfg. specs. It may pay to use more than one UPS to get the desired protection. NOTE: It is important for you to have a good GROUND system at the electrical box. Your power company can help you there. Poor grounding contributes to serious damage to electronics during a surge. The UPS can only help do its part, but it is not absolute.
Customer Review: Works exactly as described, no defects or problems, offers a lot of power Summary: 5 Stars
Great little UPS, here. I've paid the APC tax for a long time so I figured I would branch out this time. The unit has the smallest form factors you could possibly have while supporting 1500 VA/900 Watts. The LCD screen gives you just the information you need. The software works well.
I plugged in all these items:
- 1 quad core PC
- 2 19" monitors
- Dell PowerEdge 24 port switch (these take quite a bit of power)
- D-Link gaming router
- ISP modem
- ISP coax cable
- 2 Vonage modems
- 2 line phone
And it shows my total load capacity only at 1 bar (out of 5) with a realistic battery runtime of 41 minutes. That's really darn good. That's basically everything in my office except the printer and I'm only using 20% of what this thing can handle.
