Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CyberPower High-Speed 7-Port USB HubCustomer Review: Essential accessory Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this powered 7 port USB hub over the 4 port model by the same manufacturer. You'll need those extra ports, especially if you're installing an external drive that requires 2 ports to operate. CyberPower recommends that you operate the hub with the included wall wart power supply, even though you can use it without the power supply.
However, if you plug a keyboard with LED backlighting (like the Saitek Eclipse) into this hub, the LED backlighting will remain ON even though the computer itself has been turned OFF. It's a simple matter of plugging the Saitek (or similar peripheral) into a USB port on the computer instead of the hub. Otherwise, you'll have to manually turn off the LEDs, which will light again when the computer boots up.
The lights on the hub itself don't bother me as they have others, but placing the hub out of sight remedies the problem. It has a lifetime warranty, and installs easily with no software to run. I also own a UPS made by CyberPower, and it seems to be a quality product.
Customer Review: Does the Job Summary: 5 Stars
Like everyone else, the number of USB ports on my new computer was inadequate from the get-go, and I was already using a cheap non-powered hub. However, several of the things that needed to plug into that hub (like an external CD ROM) needed more power than they were getting, and the ports on my system itself were full. Thus, I started looking for a powered hub, and ended up with this one. It's got plenty of power, given that it connects not only to my PC through a USB, but also directly into the electric system via a standard AC plug (leading to the other problem everyone has, with running out of electric plug space, but that's a different review!). It's heavy. This is a good thing, as it provides stability and is a lot less likely to be knocked over by a passing cat. And... it's pretty! It really does look like a jukebox when it's all lit up, and the lights are pretty bright, but it's only about three feet from my bed and it's never bothered me at night. It was no issue to install, and it works. What's not to like?

With USB 3.0 on the horizon, I didn't want to spend a lot for a
USB 2.0 hub; but I still needed functionality to handle more than 4 ports, AND ... with two 2TB external disk drives, and other goodies, attached to my laptop, I needed a powered hub. What initially caught my eye was (as another reviewer commented) the "juke box" appearance. I was somewhat disappointed that the green port indicator lights were just green lights and didn't function as true indicators to let me know which port(s) were active at the moment. And, like another reviewer, I like having a port on the face of the hub. I use a lot of micro SD cards from my digital cameras, PDA, digital voice recorder, etc., and having a port on the front let's me plug in a micro USB reader and pop those micro cards in and out as I need them (I'm running Windows 7, so I don't need to ask Windows to "remove" them for me). Data transfers among the hub attached devices is 100%, no lapses, no losses.I'm very happy with this CyberPower hub. I think you will be too.
Customer Review: I hope this helps someone! Summary: 5 Stars
I use the 64-bit version of windows 7, and I have repeatedly bought and thrown out many usb hubs with external power supplies prior to this one. There are two important features of this hub that make it a keeper. I use a transcend portable external hard drive for backing up all my data and I refuse to give it up for anything because of it's insane durability. This external hard drive, which is the most important usb peripheral I use, requires TWO usb ports in order to have sufficient power to run. My issue with all of my previous hubs, even when they came with ac adapters, was that my external hard drive would not power on with any of them...until I found this one! The other small, but not insignificant, detail that makes this hub better than the rest is the weighted base that actually keeps the hub on your desk (even when I have ALL of my peripherals attached and running) which none of the other hubs I have purchased were able to do. I'm so unbelievably happy with my purchase!
Customer Review: powerful hub Summary: 5 Stars
Bottom line is that it works. I use it with a Vista laptop and my midi setup. It powers a portable DVDRW, a non powered hard drive, and my MIDI keyboard. It didn't seem to work with my Hercules DJ Control Steel, but that thing is even finicky hooked direct to the laptop, so I don't blame the hub. No delay noticed with the keyboard, which is critical. The power supply gives out 3.2A, which is much more powerful than most powered hubs. The port on the front is handy for a quick plug in of flash drives, which I use to transfer samples and music tracks back and forth with my other equipment. Remember, plug it in and give Windows time to fully install the drivers for it before plugging anything else. Then just plug them in one at a time. My only complaint is the blue LED is too bright, but it's not one of those hyperbright blue LEDS that light up the room, doesn't bother me in my dim media room and it's pointed right at me. The screen is brighter. I can live with it.
