Customer Review: Works great with my 2009 iPod Classic 160GB

For the money, this very basic dock can't be beat. Plays audio from the iPod's superior fidelity LINE-OUT connection, charges, and even looks nice. I didn't like the reddish-brown plastic insert (which wouldn't match either a white or black universal dock adapter), so I dismantled the unit (3 screws on the bottom), removed the dock circuitry from the underside, and painted my plastic top matte black. A little buffing with 0000 grade steel wool, a little clear coating with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0, and a black SendStation Dock Extender for iPod made this dock much more attractive. If you own a compatible model of iPod, the Crosley iCompanion is a nice economical way to plug your iPod into a hi-fi amp or self-powered speakers.
To answer another reviewer, No, this does not come with a remote. Considering the retro, wood finish look of this, a remote might be a large Bakelite box with "clicker" buttons! Seriously, this is as basic as it gets. Charges. Plays line-out audio. Done.
