I bought this record player(in black) as a gift for my fiance. It is simple and easy to use. The sound is loud and warm and it looks great in our living room. It can also play radio stations so I can listen to NPR when he is not around to be bored by it :) We are new to record collecting so I am no expert on players, but we did own one Crosley player before this one that we ended up returning because it did not play the records in full and scratched them slightly so I was a bit skeptical. This one was cheaper by about $150 and looks and plays much better. The one thing I was disappointed by is that there is no headphone jack but there is an audio out which we can feed into our surround sound system with an RCA cable. That is really not necessary, however, because the sound is loud enough for us without it. It is also a bit louder when the radio is playing than when the records are. It plays fine with the top open or closed also. Overall, this player does exactly what we wanted it to; plays our records in full, with a clear, warm sound, looks nice and doesn't take up a lot of space or need extraneous speakers to function. I would recommend this product to a friend or anyone who is looking for a straightforward record player.
