I was always in between buying ipod nano or this product. I also made an extensive research about mp3 players. finally my decision narrowed by observations on finding something that can help me to play video files. Creative plays the most extensive video files.In addition here is a radio. moreover here is the voice recorder whic is completely useful for me and good quality.The control panel for me functionns very well.I read some reviews that people thought that this control panel made it seem cheap. For me it is vise versa. I did not like even ipod touch. because inorder to operate or change the songs you need to see the screen. whit creATIVE i can memorize and change or operate the player whle it is in my pocket withour seeing its screen. it is cheaper than ipod nano and moreover it has more specifications than that. Ok here is the sound quality, it is just great. if you are so sensitive to sound quality my advice buy a good head phone. its original heasd phones are good. i tried sony headphones which costs $9.99 quality dropped but it is because of the headphones. Just relax and enjoy. here is a negative part I WISH IT COULD RUN BY BATTERIES SO THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A COMPUTER WITH A USB.

I bought a 8g zen v plus online on Thanksgiving day because of the $100 dollar price. When I went to CC to pick it up they upgraded me to the new zen because the "count" was off in the computer. I thought Cool....until I tried to charge it and all I got was a white screen. I was very disappointed! I took it back the next day and CC gave me a new one and it has been great. My suggestion to anyone who is having a few glitches with the player is take it back and get a new one. It seems there is a problem with some players - maybe a certain manufacturing lot or it was rushed to market.
There is a lot to like about this player. Just the fact that it is not an i-pod is one of them. The new software will even let you use I-tunes for songs. The player is very easy to use. The SD card is not integrated like you would expect but it does give you a lot of options for movies, TV, etc. Its certainly is better than nothing. The player is so easy to operate that the wife was able to learn how to use it quickly and now she wants one. Feature for feature you cannot find a better product at a better price.

I have had my zen for a few months now.I've owned a lot of mp3 players and also video/mp3 players.

scratch resistance is great

screen quality is above average considering price
menu system is easy to figure out
expandable memory
exceptional audio/mp3 quality
Cons
no removeable battery and doesnt work with itunes
Reason I like it most:
I use amazon Unbox video with my zen and it works great with unbox.
Very easy for even a beginner to get new shows or whatever you like from amazon. I gave up on itunes long ago, so it doesnt matter if the zen cant be used with itunes, however, a lot of people still think itunes is good and they will have to buy an iPod
Full disclosure: You can check my reviews, I used to buy iPods but awhile ago I realized two things. 1. They are way overpriced and have limited functionality and 2. you have to deal with itunes. I have moved on and am very happy now. I dont hate apple or apple products, just have found better players to buy.

This was the very first MP3 I've had and I'm extremely pleased with it.
Pros:
Very large, clear screen compared to others
Very easy to set up and download CD's -- and I'm a novice
Easy to sort and organize CD's and navitate the different menus
Lots of pre-sets for the radio
Can't comment on videos, pictures, or other applications because I
mainly use it for music
Ability to have a memory card -- I'll put my Christmas music on it
Great sound for music, although ear buds that came with it aren't
the best, but will do for awhile.
Cons:
I've only found one. The battery life isn't quite as long as claimed, but it's easy to recharge from the computer with the short cord that came with it. Some don't like the short cord, but it works fine for me. A cord to recharge it from a wall socket would be nice, but I'll buy that separately.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality and features of this MP3 and would buy another one. Very good value for the price!

I had problems with the first Creative Zen that I purchased from Amazon--it froze. Returning it to Amazon was a quick and easy process., and within a few days I had a replacement. That was about three weeks ago, and this Zen has worked perfectly. I wanted it mainly for listening to music and books, so I can't comment on the video or photos feature. I 'rip' CDs into the Zen and they go into the 'Albums' section; as I finish listening to a chapter, I delete it. For someone who listens to books, this is an excellent player. If I pause the chapter and forget to go back to it, the player shuts off. When I turn it on again, I simply hit the pause button, and I'm back to where I left off. I've heard that some other players go back to the beginning of the chapter. The sound is very good. The Zen is really an easy player to learn to use, which was important to this non-techie. I'm very happy with Amazon for allowing me to return the first Zen without any hassle, but then I've always had a good experience ordering from them. My purchases always arrive within days of ordering.
