If you'd like a webcam to use very casually (once every few months) like most people, the price should be your biggest criteria, and this webcam can be a decent deal for you. If you want to use a webcam with anything more than casual usage, avoid the cam completely. The sensor is very low resolution (352x288), the interface is old (USB 1.1), and the OS compatibility is outdated (Windows XP with no plans to support Vista).
The webcam works on Vista with Microsoft's default drivers, but the drivers and application software that come with the cam won't install at all. The games that come with the cam *do* work with Vista (and are a blast for my eight-year-old). I got this for free after rebate, thinking that even if it's a cheap cam, it's likely to be better than my 10-year-old, cheap cam.
Other than the games that it came with, it wasn't. The picture quality on my old, cheap cam is the same as that of my new, cheap cam.

This is a good cam as far as images, ease of use, and easily installed on computer. However it is not secure to position atop a screen of a laptop as it was advertised. It has to be repositioned because it slides and will not stay in "placed position". I did purchase a USB extension and placed the cam on a nearby flat surface, which addressed the problem and now it serves my purpose for chatting, or other purposes. It works beautifully on my desktop, without the problem of positioning. But for laptop, it is an issue that needs to be realized before purchasing.Customer Review: Amazingly Average

The product though cheap is one of those where you get what you pay for. The video quality is not great by anyones imagination. In terms of staying on a flatscreen moniter or laptop it works only as long as the device is very still(aka, no laptop on the lap), Also very hard to adjust becuase once you start moving it, it will fall off or slip. The free headset works fine, and it is plug and play with AIM messenger. So that was very easy, and it does do the job. HOWEVER SOFTWARE DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS VISTA....I was dissapointed this was not stated cleary.Customer Review: Not the best

I bought this webcam and well i liked it but only on the daylight with my windows opened all the way sometimes i had my light on and you werent able to see clearly picture quality isnt the best and if you have a regular monitor not a flat one it will keep on falling down from the top also the two claws from the front fell off. it is real sensitive and not worth it i would recommend it to a kid probably. Go and buy a better webcam than this.
