Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Creative SBS 380 2.1 SpeakersCustomer Review: A few problems Summary: 3 Stars
I was looking for a cheap yet decent sounding pair of speakers and came accross the rave reviews for this one, so I decided to try them.
For some reason, the sound cut out in my right speaker occasionally. I fiddle with the plug and it works fine, and it works fine listening to it over ear phones. Strange little hiccup! I am cheap and don't want to pay or wait for a replacement, so I deal.
The sound quality is clear, and the price can't be beat.
Customer Review: no base controller Summary: 3 Stars
I wouldve given a 5, but for no base controller. Sound is awesome, very clear and cut, base is also awesome, but no controller. You will have to use some software to control it, but that doesnt help too much.
Customer Review: Not recommend if you want a good bass effect. Summary: 3 Stars
It is not good enough. There is only one volume control, no bass control.
I am kind of not satisfy with the bass effect.
Customer Review: Poor quality sound, Poor power supply. Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased these based on the previous reviews on this page.My advice? Look elsewhere, I picked up two sets of these (one for my each of my computers). It only took about one week for the power supply to fail on set one. I noticed that the 10V power supply (included), fits quite loose where it interfaces with the unit. (This holds true for both sets). I was unable to get the first set to power up, even when using the power supply from my 2nd set. The sound is barely acceptable. The treble end is severely lacking. Even after playing with the EQ on my mp3 player, I could not strike a good balance of treble with the over powering bass.
I would not recommend this product. BOO!
Update: Only two months later, the power supply on both sets of speakers has failed. These speakers are a waste of your money, steer clear.
Customer Review: Too much base Summary: 1 Stars
I bought the SBS 340 but I can see they look the same and from what another reviewer said they obviously sound the same. Besides if anyone is planning on getting the 340 series (they are sold at Walmart) well think twice about getting it unless you can find a better option.
There is no way to turn the bass off and it's too powerful and it's just a thud sound. I have to face the port downwards to prevent my neighbors from getting mad. The only decent thing is that the speakers are OK and that I don't have to put my headphone cord directly into my computer anymore and have them snagging all the time and getting pulled out. And what is annoying me all the sudden right now is the green light indicating the speaker is on, too bad you can't turn it off. I plan on disabling it.
It's worth the money if you can't buy anything online or can't find a better rated speaker. There is one better one sold at Walmart and on Amazon but it's $5 more and I don't think that includes shipping. I'm not too upset because the base enclosure functions as a footstool for me and I was able to rip the wire off the base speaker thereby preventing it from making any sounds. Besides that I have some cheap comfortable RCA headphones which get the job done and having them on protects me from the relentless noise of my heater and air conditioner.
