I bought this cover as gently used. It arrived today. It is beautiful and feels very sleek, a bit too sleek. I love handling my kindle with it on.
I had eyed the cole haan cover ever since I recieved my kindle as a gift from friends. They thoughtfully included the amazon black leather cover which was nice and functional. I could not justify $100 for another cover. Then in Dec I saw the price was down to $30. I asked my DH to get it for me for Xmas but he questioned why I wanted another cover. I tried to convince him it was the perfect gift since it was a luxury item which was entirely frivolous and I could not justify getting it myself. Xmas AM and no cole haan cover. I couldn't stop thinking about it so when after a week I got online to order. It was sold out and no indication it would ever be in stock. I figured the low price was as clearance item since amazon came out with the newer kindle. I had to get a used one for more than the cost of a new one. Of course, after I bought a used one the site indicated they are getting restocked.
If you are going to get a used one my experience was good. The cover looks like it would have if I had used it for a week. No biggie.
The hinge was difficult to get on compared to the amazon cover. My nails and fingers got a beating and I wondered if the hinge was defective like some reviewers had mentioned. The top hinge would not go in all the way and latch into place. After several minuites and wondering if I should give up, it finally went in.
Make sure the bottom hinge is in all the way. Press down on the top hinge, slide it down then into kindle, (make sure the botton hinge is still in all the way). When the top hinge is all the way in the kindle move the top hinge up to latch in place. The hinges really did not want to be where they are suppose to go but once in, it feels very secure.
My one regret is I wish I had gotten the dark brown color. I didn't know it existed when I ordered this cover. The black is great except in my black bag it is hard to spot. At the current price the black cole haan is very good value. I would not have gotten it or asked for it as a gift at $100.
