I read forums online and here is one person that I found with a solution:
"I have a coby as well and recently gave me wrong disk error as well , with any burnt disk , that previously used to play . it would play oringinal disk . i eventually found this to be the problem =/
the bit that actually spins the disk can actually move to an incorrect position , more likely than not downwards , so putting the disk too close to the lens. I found by having the top level with the steel pin thingy ,( it seems not to be attached and can slid up and down after siome use) it would again read all disks . Eventually i super glued this in place . Supplier said it was caused by misabuse so would not cover by warrenty."

I bought this DVD player after much research across the net for a decent and economic player. I came upon this model and eventually purchased it. It has been wonderful. It is fully featured, able to hook into the TV, comes with a case to attach it to a headrest in a vehicle, and comes with many things inside the box. It comes with 2 sets of headphones, a car tape adapter, cords to hook into the TV, case, charger, Li-Ion battery (usually get about 3 hours out of it), and a car charger. I heard of the shady reputation of Coby, but this product is built to last. It has a firm rubber casing and has been dropped before, and it came out in complete working order, minus a scuff or two. It's beautiful screen is quite nice, but the brightness may be too high for some, so I turned it down. It is also hard to see in sunlight, with most screens of its type. I heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a DVD player built to last, but is also easy on the wallet.Customer Review: AMAZING PORTABLE DVD PLAYER!

I have purchased two other portable DVD players over the past few years for my son to use while in the car. They eventually got dropped or stop working on their own. I've never really been impressed with the quality of the other DVD players. The picture was grainy, sound was low and fuzzy, the included remote only worked within 5 feet of the player, etc. This Coby Tablet-style player is so much nicer than the others we've had. I like the tablet-style. My son can hold it in his lap or strap it to the head-rest in front of him. The picture is flawless and the sound is amazing. Also, the player comes with everything needed for complete entertainment (two! sets of headphones, tape deck converter, car charger, AC charger, remote, fitted case with straps). The other two players we owned are priced over $200 each. For the price and the quality, I would recomend this product to anyone.Customer Review: I LOVE THIS!!

I fly a lot and love tucking this DVD unit into my carry-on bag. I usually rent a few favorite movies before I leave home, then watch during the flight. (I can usually see one full movie before the battery starts to fade...I plan on buying another battery to take along with me.) I have also loved having this unit in my hotel room. It even has dual earphone jacks so my husband & I can listen & watch together in bed, and not wake up the house when visiting out of town family. I've taken it on car trips and plugged it into the cigarette lighter, too! The captions are great (if needed), the quality is wonderful! The only drawback for me is that the symbols on the remote are not obvious....but it wasn't a big deal. I used a Sharpie pen and wrote "Play/Pause, Next/Prev. FR/FF" along the side so I could figure it out quickly. I can't say enough about this DVD player! Highly recommended!Customer Review: Impressive

I received the Coby TF-DVD7050 a week ago, in preparation for our vacation trip. After visiting the stores (BestBuy, Circuit City, HHG, Walmart, Target, etc.), I was unable to find a player that seemed solid enough or simply played LOUD enough for a car ride. I did some research on the web and found this great device on Amazon! I am always a little hesitant at trusting reviews, but the ones regarding this are on the money! I found that this device is playing everything I put in it, from store bought to home recorded DVD's. It comes with everything you need, car mounting case, remote, headphones, cassette adapter so you can play it over the car speakers. Great price on Amazon, even though I had to pay sales tax in KY, but shipping was free. As for ability to handle shocks, I played one of my 10 month old son's favorite DVD's and let him hold it, it never skipped a beat...
