I ordered this item for one purpose only: to get myself to go to the gym more. I figured I could rent a series (in my case, I alternate between The Sopranos and Six Feet Under) from the very beginning, and watch the episodes while I'm walking on the treadmill at the gym instead of snacking on the couch at home. IT WORKS! I feel like the coolest chick ont he treadmills, too, because the people who have fold-open style DVD players have a hard time getting them to perch nicely on the tiny ledge provided for books - not me. It fits perfectly! in the case it came in, which protects the screen between uses because when I'm done, I flip it so the screen doesn't face out the little window anymore.
It skipped a few times the first time I used it, and once in a while it will freeze briefly - but since I'm standing inches away from it, it's no problem to hit "pause" or "play" till it gets past the freeze. The phones that come with it are so-so, background noise gets in, but I switched to the larger headset I was using for my portable CD player, and OH MY - I almost jumped out of the way the first time a show had the sound of a car driving by, because it went from one headphone to the other (I think) and sounded so real! Great sound, crisp picture. I love it. I got the 2-year warranty, which on this item is very cheap, so I don't worry about longevity problems - although I've had mine more than 60 days and so far, so good.

DVD's:
only had a chance to try a few dvd's and so far it works great.
excellent picture quality and sound.
my main concern was if it played dvd-r's and IT DOES!! yaaaay!!!!
disregard the guy who said it doesn't. although not sure about dvd+r's.
MUSIC AUDIO:
another concern was the sound quality of audio cd's, and it's okay. no equalizer or sound settings, but what do you expect?... it's a dvd player lol.
JPEG's:
i also wanted to view comics on this for a trip, but the jpegs are completely unreadable, even with the comics scanned at a high resolution. you can zoom in but the jpeg still looks horrible. haven't tried regular pictures taken with a digital camera yet.
overall a great product (so far).
i just hope it holds up for a while, that's why i also purchased a 1 yr warranty. maybe i should've gotten the 2 yr?
i would recommend this specifically for watching dvd's (for those who might have been wondering about the above mentioned).
i'll try and write another review in a month or so. and i'll definitely write one if there are any problems with the player.

I had been searching for a portable DVD player, and I purchased this one because of the reviews that I read. I have to say that I am totally satified with this DVD.
While using my DVD the first thing that everyone notices is the clarify of the picture! For a 7" screen - the picture clarify and sharpness is fantastic. I can watch a full length movie before the battery runs low. Because of the 2 earplug jacks - convenience is great because 2 people can watch in privacy at one time.
Durability is also another factor to why I love this DVD. I commute on the bus to work; when it comes to my stop many times I just plop the player into my back pack, and it has endured a lot of tossing, bumping and man handling. Once on accident it fell from my table top to the floor and it is still in tack.
The speakers on this DVD allows for viewing a DVD with out headphone! It came with a headphone, car charger & regular charger, a carrying case and jacks to hook up to your home entertainment center - yes TV and all!!! This DVD can literally stand up on it's on - (I really mean it - it can stand, lay flat or be secured to a headrest in any vehicle).
Do i recommend get this DVD! Heck yes!! The price - the quality - the durability all in one package!!

Our old car VHS player went kapoot so I did a lot of research before investing in a new DVD portable player. We are so pleased with this purchase. Has a lot of extras. It only took me about 3 minutes from box to hooking up and playing in the car and the majority of that time was spent simply tightening the straps on the head mount! Plus that was without even looking at the instructions. Easy, easy to use. All you need is the car adaptor that is included for the car use. We love the ability to switch from widescreen to full screen. I would recommend having the remote control that is included to use in the car because at night it's hard to read the symbols on the front button controls. Much easier to operate with the remote. Excellent picture quality and the speaker system is very nice. In fact the default sound setting is so good, that we didn't need to make any adjustments for my 4 year old, plus, we could hardly hear it in the front seat which was very nice. Our old player used to annoy us constantly with the noise level. High marks from us on this product so far! A total steal for what we paid which was 134.00! (On another note, I don't do many reviews but was so pleased, I wanted others to know that this truly is an exceptional product.)Customer Review: Exceeds Expectations

What a great value this product is. I was somewhat worried when I first purchased the Colby player because of how inexpensive it was, but it has proven to be very reliable.
I haven't had any problems with skipping and it plays all my different kinds of media. The manufacturing quality is superb, much better than what I have seen from the other players currently on the market. The picture quality and viewing angle are also excellent. It handles 110-240 Volts and I was also able to unlock the region encoding (look online) so that it plays all regions - which was a concern because of travel.
It comes with lots of extras too. The remote control is well designed and easy to use. In addition to the remote control, it comes with the car charger, two sets of headphones, power adaptor, car case for hanging it on the back of a seat, and the kitchen sink.
Okay, now for the negatives: I can see what the other reviewers mean by how easy it is to scratch, but you never see the scratches when it is playing. It also would have been nice if the front buttons offered more control of the unit... maybe I just need to read the manual. Well, that's about it as far as negative comments go... it's just a great product.
