Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby MP-C885 1 GB Flash MP3 Player with FM Tuner and Direct USB Drive (Black)Customer Review: Latest Model Considers Old Issues in Older Reviews Summary: 4 Stars
Just got this unit a month ago, but just now read reviews; thought I'd update some previous input by others.
1) In first month, no issues with buttons, sync, USB port/hardware, or functions.
2) Battery life: I'm getting 22-24 hours of play time on one AAA battery
3) Although earphones are still padless and a little large, they are the "hang-around-the-neck" style that I like: they provide a great antenna for the FM tuner and with the included clip lanyard, allow the unit to hang from the earphones w/o placing that weight on your ears. The clip/lanyard can be used to hang the unit from a shirt button or from the earphone cable. (I clip mine to the cable and then put the unit in a shirt pocket.) Even when working out, or without the use of a shirt pocket, the unit can hang easily without the weight being on the plug or the ears.
4) If you appear to run out of "space" on the unit, the user's guide/manual tells you how to fix this. Same if you seem to not have access to either files or music
5) User's guide/manual also explains why you don't have complete use of "space". The software for the unit takes up 27MB of it.
6) Voice recording and playback is just as good as my Olympus DVR at one-third the cost. Microphone is now on the front side so recording of surrounding area is better.
7) Price on Amazon on my purchase date was $[... making this the best value of all I've seen. I'm sure price is down due to relatively small size of 1GB (compared to others on the market mostly at 2GB+). Still has plenty of space for me as I listen to the radio a lot; it takes me three or four days to listen to 180 downloaded songs.
Overall, I'm very pleased with it; I put it on in the morning, leave it on all day at work and the gym, and realize I still have it on when getting ready for a shower and bed. Would recommend it to anybody willing to read the instructions.
Also: I'm using Windows Media Player 11 to Sync the unit in Random mode. (I don't spend time looking for individual songs on the player so I can't say how well this works.)
Customer Review: Lecture recording device Summary: 4 Stars
I needed a very simple way to record my weekly classes digitally. The instructions are very easy to understand and with a small jewelers pincer I was able to attach the device to a neck lariat, making it easy to carry. The earbuds are cheap - I use my own headphones when reviewing audio clips (.wav file format). After setting the RECORD function to the lowest memory option, I successfully recorded my first two hour lecture. I was impressed after I reviewed it in Quicktime on my Mac laptop - the teeny weeny mic picked up all sounds, from audience coughs to the siren out on the street to the lecturer. It was placed about 6 feet from the speaker who was NOT micced but spoke loudly. This is a music class, so audio clips played, even Q& A afterwards all recorded really well. I reccommend getting rechargable AAA batteries for unlimited record time.
Customer Review: Enjoying it throroughly!! Summary: 4 Stars
I have had my player for about a month now, I love it. It takes about 6-8 seconds for it to turn on (not a minute as previously noted)and it plays quality sound. I feel like you will be amazed at how well this player plays music, I know I was! If you find it at a decent price (about $30-$35), I would go ahead and purchase one. After all what have you got to loose. The only problem I had with mine was initially getting the music on it, I had never owned a mp3 player before so I had to learn how it all worked, but if you follow the instructions carefully you shouldn't have a problem.

Works fine. Great options. No problem with Windows Media (older version or newer version) player like some people have said in their reviews.
It makes me wonder if some people had the player locked (i.e. there is a locking function which disables the sync) when trying to sync. Initially this happened to me, unknowingly, but I was able to diagnose the situation. The problems people describe about it not syncing is similar to what was happening to me when I unknowingly had the lock button in the locked position.
Customer Review: conpact music Summary: 4 Stars
Bought it for my son for his birthday. Bought one without the radio for my oldest previously and he recommended it. it's easy to use, no cd required, and small enough to carry around when you are working out or walking around town. My son is never without it as he walks many miles around town with his friends. Also small enough to wear while he is working out at the gym. (My son is a teenager) Comes with earphones so everything he needs was included.
