Customer Review: I keep coming back for more of these!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this model for about 3 years now. They were obviously inexpensive, but very functional. I recently started looking for a nice set of earbuds for a friend, who had spent $20 on some pink skull ones that sounded terrible to me. I was surprised to find my old cobys were still available here on Amazon!

I bought another set of these (just in case), plus 2 other more expensive brand-name sets that had very high ratings. There is no comparison. I'm no authority on sound, but I sure can tell when earbuds have absolutely no bass at all. These have 100% more bass than either of the other two more expensive sets that people rated so highly.

These are very basic earbuds: they're plain white, nothing cute or fancy. The cord is long, but has no adjustment. The actual soft plastic buds are super soft and comfy and they stay put, but they're not removable, adjustable, or replaceable. In the 3 years I've had mine, the plastic has never broken, cracked, or come off; my old ones look exactly like the brand-new set I just bought, and they have been Seriously used Every Day since I got them.

For $5, these are efficient, comfy and have the best sound of any I have heard. IMO, you absolutely can't go wrong with these.

Customer Review: Excellent bargin!

If I paid $[..] I would still think they were okay, but at a little over $[...] I am more then satisfied. I knew when I ordered them they were not going to be the quality of the much higher priced earbuds, and I'm not an expert on sound anyway, but they are more than I expected. They are just as good as the buds my mp3 player came with, only much more comfortable. I give it a A+ for comfort. It stays in the ears with no problem. It mentioned, If I remember correctly, that they are noise cancelling, but they aren't, although, they are better at cancelling noise than my other buds were. Some mentioned that they are cheaply made, they seem fine to me. I got them caught on a few things, it jerked it, but they didn't break. I'm pretty hard on my earbuds, I sleep with them and imagine they get twisted. I've been through quite a few other buds since having bought my MP3 player, when I ordered these I ordered 5 pairs. It's only been about a week or 10 days I've been using my first pair, but I think they will last a while, even with my rough treatment of them. I ordered a few more to give out as cheap Christmas presents to some that have complained how uncomfortable their earbuds are. I think it's a great buy and recommend them.

Customer Review: Best Six Bucks I've Ever Spent! No more ear pain!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading Brandon's review I repeated his experiment and had the opposite results. After purchasing the Coby and JBuds I find the Coby superior.

The JBuds sound was very slightly "fuzzier". I was expecting a noticeable difference since the JBuds were more than 3 times the cost of the Coby. I used both Coby and JBuds for about an hour each on different settings, music and spoken word on my iPod. Neither seemed to have a "break in" period as another reviewer expressed.

Both were a FAR CRY better than the iPod originals! Thank God for small miracles. The iPod earbuds KILL my ears. Both of the replacement earbuds, Coby and JBuds, were almost soothing compared to the dimes on a stick iPod expects me to use.

The only thing the JBuds have over these is the replacement pads for the buds themselves. OH and the color! I prefer the black because my iPod is black. However, the originals are white, so it is not a big deal.

I say save the 10 bucks, and buy two spare pair of the Coby buds. I just bought four more pair. Super little gift for my friends with iPods...the middle agers like me, who can't deal with the iPod ear pain and I am giving my son the JBuds.

Customer Review: great value for the price

I compared these buds to the skull candy buds http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003HKTWKO/ and to a pair of sony buds that came with an old mp3 player i have.

the sound from the sony buds sounded the best to me, but the coby was very very very close to the sony. So much so that maybe the difference in sound i was hearing was really just not even there.

The skull candy buds sounded too 'tinny' - there wasn't enough bass so everything sounded a little too high pitched and shallow.

The coby's seem to be pretty comfortable. And that's the main reason i was looking for something besides the sony buds i already have. The sony's are hard plastic and get uncomfortable after a while. The bit of silicon/rubber/whatever it is around the bud is just enough to muffle outside sounds and also make them more comfortable to wear. They might be good enough for people jogging or doing other activities that involve a lot of movement, but probably will fall out eventually.

I'd easily pick these over the skull candy buds. They are cheaper, and they sound better.

Customer Review: Surprisingly good. Great value.

I've owned $200 custom-molded ear-buds (for motorcycling). In comparison, I think the "isolation" title of this Coby product is silly. But the sound quality from these is surprisingly good. In comparison to similarly priced products, the bass is particularly good.

Upon viewing them, I was troubled by the flimsy soft plastic tip. It is actually durable and you can pull it off and clean it and put it back on.

Highly recommended for people who don't need good isolation or exemplary sound.

** Update ** After a number of months (about 4 or 5) of using these at the gym with mp3 player in my pocket, the wires started to fail and one side stopped working. I've bought another pair to replace them

** Update 2 ** The second pair of these I've bought just broke in the same way. the wire broke internally in the same place, right near the plug. I tried to be more careful and these lasted a year. I've had very expensive earphones fail in the same way; it is a common defect of earphones, so I'll probably just buy another pair of these.
