Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby CVE92 Isolation Stereo Earphones

Customer Review: Perspective
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased and used at least 10 sets of the headphones and was never let down when used for their intended purpose. For example, I use these headphones when mowing the lawn, running, working in the yard, etc... I do not use $50.00 headphones for in these situations. Why? I simply don't want to take the chance on trashing or losing them. You lose the Coby's, who really cares?

While these headphone have great sound, they obviously will not have the same clarity or reproduction as headphones costing $50 to $100. Nevertheless, they sound fantastic and if you are not a true "audiophile" as most of us are not, you will barely notice the difference unless you do a side by side comparison in a controlled environment (not running, mowing the lawn, etc...). In controlled situations (home, airport, etc) I prefer the more expensive headphones.

The Coby design is pretty simple with one flaw. The rubber cushion earpieces are easily pulled off, especially by 2 1/2 year olds if you know what I mean. That is annoying because if you lose these, the headphones are useless. However, they fit pretty well and seem to hang from the ear comfortably. They also do a great job of blocking out ambient noise.

So, in summation, while these may not replace your "great" headphones, they are really "good" earphones to keep around the house.

Product Safety note: The package for these headphone's displays a lead content warning (I believe CA State mandated). Not sure what that is about though. So, keep that in mind if there is any chance your kids may chew on the product.

Customer Review: Excellent for what you pay
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit that when I bought these I had almost zero interest in them. I bought them because I needed 5 more dollars for free shipping (Extra headphones vs. 4.99 for shipping... easy choice) and I have to admit that I was pleasantly suprised. I love my music but I'm not super picky about sound quality, although I simply couldn't stand the included headphones in my Creative Zen. These are NOT high end headphones so don't expect all the extra features (extra buds/extended cord... etc.) but they far outperform their price. I use them mainly for backup in case my good ones break but they're reliable and sound great to my pretty average ears. I don't listen to much Bass heavy music so I can't speak much to their bass quality but the highs are clear although the middle can be a little flat but that also depends highly on the bitrate of the music. If you use 128 (iTunes) or anything around there you probably won't notice a difference at all.

The silicon on the bud is thinner than most with this design which could be either good or bad depending on how you look at it. The good part is that it makes it extremely flexible and therefore some of the most comfortable earbuds I've ever used (and I've used plenty). The bad aspect is that they tend to be less durable and they also slip out occasionally when moving. Not really a big deal to me, but it might be a problem for some.

I would reccomend these simply beacuse although they're not perfect they're worth having for the price... I spend more on breakfast than these earbuds.

Customer Review: Great for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased these for my daughter to use with her new mp3 player. The headphones included were garbage, but I did not want to spend a lot, as my daughter is still only 8.

I have two other children who also received MP3 players for Christmas, so along with these I purchased some Sony funtopia (MDR-E828LP), Sony funtopia (MDR-EX51LP), and Sennheiser CX300s. The Coby were the cheapest, but I preferred the sound over both Sony products, and I only found the Sennheiser, which I paid 4 times as much for, to be only incrementally better.

I tested these with 3 different models of MP3 players, all of which have equalizers. On the Zen Stone Plus, which my daughter received, the bass was too light and the sound was shallow. I increased the bass on her unit, and these sounded really quite good.

I am not a huge fan of bass. I like the rich, encomposing sound it provides, but I like my mids and highs to be crystal clear. None of these headphones really provided this, as all seemed to be designed around strong bass. If a real strong bass is preferred, then the Sennheiser are definately the way to go. But for a moderately good, full range, inexpensive earbud, I will be sticking with the Coby.

I was just listening to my daughters mp3 player (she was listening to Hayley Westenra, Never Saw Blue) and was surprised how good it sounded.

However, for a full range headphone with strong bass and clean mids and highs, get an over the ear version and look to spend at least $100.

Customer Review: Well worth the money! Same as more exspensive ear buds
Summary: 5 Stars

I have given this 5 stars based on value and price.

First of all, INEXPENSIVE!!
Second, they can be tricky to put in your ear, but once you get the hang of them, they don't come out. They are very comfortable and block sound well. I use them while sleeping and have no trouble with them jabbing my ear. I use them on motorcycle rides and do not need to turn up the volume more then for a crowded room. They sound as good as any lower range ear buds and unless you're truly picky, you'll love the sound. They just aren't $200 B&O phones.

I've used plenty of different ear buds, around/on and in headphones. I usually prefer my Bose around ear phones for computer listening and gaming, but choose in ear phones for use with my Zune. I was not a fan of the stock ear buds as they sounded somewhat hollow and were horribly uncomfortable. I replaced them with these JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black) Jbuds. They worked great until I broke them. I dropped my Zune and I'm guess one of the wires broke giving me only left channel sound. Rather then repairing I went to find some cheap replacements. These Coby's are EXACTLY the same as the JBuds but less then half the price.

These are a great option for mp3 players if you're on a budget, or even not!

Customer Review: Extremely great value!
Summary: 5 Stars

For this price, these hands down can not be beat. If you're going to be spending a lot of time jogging or running they'll try to slip out every once in awhile...other than that they're pretty solid. I've waited about a month after I purchased them to make my review and I'm still 100% pleased with my purchase.

Pros:

The sound isolation features do a good job of muting background noise for the most part. It can effectively drone out the noise if there is somebody talking on the phone next to you and it severely mutes traffic noise if you're walking alongside a road.

The price on these is downright laughable. I always look for a bargain when I shop but I almost feel guilty for getting these so cheap. I'm probably going to pick up a couple of extras for down the road.

The size of the cord is generous.

Cons:

Cords are a tad on the flimsy side and don't seem like they can stand too much regular use.

They're ( cords) are also stiff and not supple.

If you use these while working out, they'll do an okay job but they're not going to be secure the entire time while on a treadmill or running.

I don't know how but if you are eating while listening to music w/ these the sound of your chewing becomes heavily magnified. It's an annoyance but livable for the price.
