Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette AdapterCustomer Review: Great Sound / Exceeded my Expectations Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Coby cassette adapter as an alternative to making a $500+ replacement of my factory installed Harman Kardon cd changer that was on the blink. Decided to try the casette adapter after my research indicated sound quality may be an issue with respect to the FM adapter alternative. To my surprise the Coby cassette adapter provides very good sound quality on my premium car stereo system; almost as good as my now defunct CD player, and better sound quality than I achieve through FM radio broadcasts. The cable can be attached for front loading or side loading cassette players making installation a breeze, and the curled cable is pleasing, asthetically. I connected the adapter to a 30 GB Zune and can now commmute for weeks without hearing the same song twice. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a high quality cassette player who desires to connect a MP3 player (through the headphone jack) to his/her audio system.
Customer Review: Very good product Summary: 5 Stars
After going through many reviews of cassette adapters and FM Transmitters for car stereos, I decided to buy this product a month ago. So far, it has worked great. I am able use my MP3 player in the car stereo using this adapter. This adapter has a solid built and the sound quality is excellent. Its modular design lets you plug it into both front and side-loading cassette players. The coiled cord is also a nice feature. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and recommend it over FM transmitters for car audio.
Suggestion: When you test it first time, keep all volume control knobs at lower settings; specially when you are trying to reverse the direction of the audio play. It plays in normal volume level in only one direction. This is common and expected with any audio cassette adapter. See other reviews for details on the "skip" mode and "auto-reverse" settings.
Customer Review: Works Great! Great upgrade Summary: 5 Stars
I had a Maxwell cassette adapter that i had bought from Walgreens for about 10$ a few years ago. Every time i would attach this to an mp3 player i had to make sure the sound was about 3/4 on the device or it would get all muddy.
Beside for the muddy it would also broadcast the sound in very low quality (even with a good system [Bose, JBL etc..]). I finally decided to look for an upgrade, and i found this with really high amount of 3-5 stars and very few % of lower.
This has been one of the greatest buys i have ever got, its quality is amazing, the feature to switch which side the wire comes out of is a very useful feature for cars that have the tape in horizontally. The only issue i have with this adapter is that it makes a clicking sound while it is in the tape deck (it can be drowned out by music but still can be annoying if the music isn't that loud).
Customer Review: Does its job superbly Summary: 5 Stars
After a lot of research I was down to the Coby and Sony adapters. I own a lot of Sony audio products so was tempted to go in for the Sony one. But I was not sure of these kind of adapters and the Coby cost $8 as against $13 for the Sony. So I placed my bet on the Coby (didn't have much to lose). Havn't been disappointed since. I use it in my Honda Accord factory installed system along with my Samsung K3 player. Works as good as the CD player. Only thing to note is to get the best performance is to ensure you have good quality MP3 (128 kbps and above, recommended is 192 to get true CD quality).
There was some disturbance using it once but after some rest to the adapter the problem has not returned. Not sure if it was the adapter, player or the system itself. Will update this review if the problem persists. In conclusion I would recommend this product.
Customer Review: Well designed product. Summary: 5 Stars
Somebody was thinking when they designed this adapter. The plug that works for either style cassete player, the one where the small end of the cassete goes in first, or the one where the wide side goes in first. Plus the curly cord that doesn't get in the way. The big bonus is the price, it's half the cost of the Monster adapter, and it works great. The reviews of the Monster adapter are very poor. I first bought a DLO Transpod 2 FM Transmitter, big mistake. The sound was about 80% static as there wasn't any line of sight between the Transpod and the car antenna. If you have a car where the antenna is molded into the rear window, it probably would work better. Anyway this adapter and my iPod sound great over my car stereo. There are a few car cassette players that won't work with a adapter, if one adapter doesn't work, none will.
