Customer Review: The USB speakerphone of choice

First, don't get the Polycom C100S or CX100. Polycom is the old standard in conference calls, but they really fell down on their attempt at making a USB device. It only works with one version of windows and Skype. I use a mac and I use skype and also GoToMeeting. Good news is, ClearOne has a really good solution here that should be better known.

Audio quality: ClearOne Chat 50 is full duplex, so you can talk over other people, has built-in echo reduction, and callers on the other end say my voice sounds very good. The speaker is loud, but it's not seriously loud. I used to have an old analogue polycom that had real oomph, and I miss that.

Special features: Chat 50 also has an analogue jack, so you can plug it into your cell phone if the person on the other end can't get to Skype. Also, apparently the Chat 50 can bridge calls between your cell phone and VoiP, but I haven't tried that. Pretty cool feature though.

If you don't need the analogue / cell phone connector, then get the cheaper CHAT 60 Speakerphone.
