I'm slightly hard of hearing in my right ear, and finally got tired of constantly asking people to repeat themselves and straining to hear things in meetings at work. I got this Personal Listener Plus last week and have been enjoying it immensely. I can hear everything in meetings, across the table in restaurants, and watching TV and listening to my stereo is a completely new experience. I never realized how much I was really missing. It's lightweight and fits neatly in my breast pocket. I don't bother with the rechargable batteries, so there are no problems there for me. This is obviously not meant to be a " super deluxe" instrument, but for the price it's terrific.Customer Review: It works as advertised

I have worn a hearing aid since age 12 (47 now) and I am the Medical Director for a Hospice. At our weekly team meeting I just cannot hear what is being said at the other end of the 5 tables that are put together. This device has allowed me to enjoy the meetings. May actually allow me to keep this job. If only they could connect it to the headphone via bluetooth so as not to be tethered to the cord. But in all fairness to the company that makes this device, they do ship it with an extension cord to the earpiece so I am really not complaining.Customer Review: Clarity PL100

My wife can't hear in one ear and has 50% hearing loss in the other. So ... it's very difficult for her to hear - even using a $6,000 hearing aid.
Clarity sells a CE-30 Neck-Loop, which triggers her hearing aid T-coil feature. Normally we plug her telephones headphone output into this unit and she can hear OK using her Clarity cord & cordless phones.
The BIG JOY in her life came when she got her Clarity PL-100. Normally we plug the PL-100 output into her CE-30 neck-loop input. Then she holds the PL-100 in her hand or sits it on top of a table. Replacing the batteries in the CE-30 is difficult for her. So there are times when she simply uses the supplied PL-100 ear-hook and clips it next to her hearing aid for extended use. Both methods seem to work OK. When sitting at a large table, she puts the extension cord on the microphone and puts it in the center of the table.
Supplied 600mah batteries seem to operate typically for 3 days. I'm in the process of replacing them with 800mah Sanyo eneloop batteries - 4 only cost 10 bucks.
Warning: These products are not made in the US by Clarity. The CE-30 and PL-100 are made by 2 different Chinese vendors. It's what I call Typical Chinese Cheap Junk. Our PL-100 unit lasted 1 week and then croaked. One of the batteries came shorted out. The foam cushion on the ear-hook fell apart when touched.
NOW ... with all that negative stuff gotten out of the way, these are wonder little devices..! My wife loves them so much, that we have just ordered a backup PL-100. It would have been nice if the there was a optional directional mic offered - the one supplied is for 360 degree sound. Maybe one off a tape recorder will work. It also would have been nice if you didn't have to remove a small Phillips screw in order to replace the CE-30 batteries. These little devices have REALLY ADDED TO MY WIFE's QUALITY OF Review: hope
Summary: 4 Stars After trying several amplifiers, the Clarity PL100 listener is to me the best in the mid price range.The descriptions of it's performances are accurate. The quality of the sound, the weight, and the one ear earphone make it discret and pleasant to use. We called it Grandma's Pod, look is very important to her.She return a pair of earring aid (4000 euros) after receiving the PL 100 I am not joking!
I bought two PL100 listeners for elderly relatives (89 & 90 years old) and it does requires the manipulation of small parts. Also the power charger is for US/110V only, unlike cameras and cellular phones. For travelers or customers abroad you need to purchase an additional international charger or power reducer (15 dollars, on the web)and additional set of rechargeable batteries...this is a Pain. In a world of technology, of smaller computers and miniature electronic gadgets, while we are living longer, why is so difficult to find a store,to compare,and try a personal listener/amplifier/earing aids ? Thanks to Clarity and Amazon.
