Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cheetah Mounts Plasma LCD Flat Screen TV Articulating Full Motion Dual Arm Wall Mount Bracket For 32-65" Displays Up To 165LBS Black With 10' High Speed HDMI Cable With Ethernet Fits Up To 24" StudsCustomer Review: Great Price! Well made! Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this mount for my new 52" Sharp Aquos tv. I read many of the reviews that are here on Amazon but was convinced that there were more positive reviews than negative. Item was received within 3 days from Amazon, so +1 already! Well packaged, its actually double boxed and is poly strapped too. This mount is quite heavy and is of solid construction. Once I determined the location for the mount I simply used a 3 ft level to insure I was level and used a stud finder to find the center of the studs. I marked my holes with a sharpie then I used a small piece of tape on my 3/16" drill bit to drill my hole to a depth of 2" as the instruction said to do and gathered some help to hold the mount while I prepared to lag bolt it to the wall. Here's some advice, use a bar of soap and gently rub the threads of the lag bolts across the bar of soap and this will help ease the bolts into the wood and use a washer under the head of the lag bolt and you will have none of the issues some people have had with twisting off the heads of the lag screws. Simply don't over tighten the lag screws. Choke up on your wrench or socket wrench and tighten until its up against the metal mount and the lag screws are "wrist tight" Here's the solution to all the reviews I read that said the mount is not assembled square from the factory....READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! The instructions tell you how to adjust the mount if your tv is not square when you get it onto the mount. This is a very simply thing to do. Simply break loose the 4 allen screws on the front of the mount holding the rear nut with a 13mm wrench and then slightly loosen the center allen and use a level and adjust the tv mount as needed. It is designed to be adjusted! People who say its weleded crooked simply have not read the instructions! Be sure to check all other screws, bolts and nuts to be sure they are snug before you hang your tv from the mount. FYI: The allen head bolts that are on the front of the mount were only finger tight. The reviews that mention the mount is stiff and hard to move is fairly accurate, however, I would rather be a little on the stiff side than sloppy and loose the first time. I think the paint on the mount is whats making it tough to move. It will move and already mine has eased up some so its fine. Be sure to snug up the lower clamp screws to make certain the tv is not pulled off the mount when you move it around on the mount. By the way, the tv will slide a few inches left or right on the mount so if your a little off center this is an easy adjustment. All in all, this is a well engineered piece of equipment, it comes with just about everything you need to mount most all makes of TV's and its more than fairly priced considering it usually ships for free and the mount in the shipping box weighs over 30 pounds. My only disappointment was the fact the Amazon is always adjusting the prices of their items up and down. I ordered my mount at 5am in the morning, I went back to the site to double check my order and check on accessories and noticed they had lowered the price $10! Kinda frustrating, but Amazon does not have a price matching policy.
Customer Review: Love This Big-Time Bracket for a 55" Mac Daddy HD Set! Summary: 5 Stars
One of the best things I did before ordering this, as I do with everything I buy is research as much as possible. This site is a great tool and islike when you go to a restaurant you haven't been to and you ask the people who work there what's good to eat, you can come here and read who bought what and what their experience is also. So much good feedback on this bracket and I could not figure out why on earth the price differential was so vast between this and the one at Best Buy made by Sanus - over $500 difference! I even had the guy at Best Buy, one of the Geek Squad dudes give me his opinion on this and he couldn't find any reason not to use it. I showed him the pictures in here one of you great people had of the bracket mounted with a guy doing pullups off of it, and all the other pics as well! I may post mine, but they look similar to what's in here already. I did get the Sanus 2-shelf glass set to put the components on and the Geek Squad dude put it up underneath the TV so that it looks like the TV is part of it! It's really slick and attractive, and you could hang your truck on either of the brackets, the TV one or the Sanus one for God's sake. My TV's only 70 lbs, and the installer went about 210 hanging on it! He hid the wires and cables for me, and it cost me $260 to let a pro do all of it. It was so worth it. (I was trying to watch the USC/OREGON game while he was doing it and he hooked it up as soon as he could and continued working while I watched the game!) So thank you to everyone who led me to this decision. He got it up and actually did a few pullups himself on the bracket! Cheetah made some of the hard drive cases for our removable drives we used to cut music for shows on so I know they made heavy-duty stuff. This bracket is as advertised, and yes, it is a tad rigid to keep pulling out and turning and putting back. My wife probably couldn't do it, but I do and it's fine. I don't do it often, just on workout days when I'm outside and I need to angle the awesome new Vizio LCD/LED 55-incher I got from Costco toward the living room window so I can see the ballgame from the garage, and man it's sweet. It's even mounted slightly off center of the bracket, but you can't tell because it's covered by the TV! And it IS slidable so you can pretty much move it wherever you want to left or right, up or down, angled left or right, or pulled out if you want. I like the way it sets against the wall completely retracted, it doesn't stick out too much at all, it's totally flush enough for jazz. From the viewer's standpoint, the TV appears like it should: a picture frame hanging on the wall, and that's what the TV looks like mounted on this bracket. Yeah, here's why Best Buy and other manu's are charging $600 for these things. Because they can. Use the tools in here. You can obtain quality services and goods at minimal prices and help somebody out who may not have known about this. Thank you to all of you for helping me.
Customer Review: Great mount, great price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this product about a month ago and am so far extremely happy it with. It arrived on time and in excellent condition (no broken parts). This thing is well built, solid, and heavy-duty and you can't be the price! The most similar model I found was at Best Buy for @ $400. It's rare these days to find quality products, much less at a great price.
Per the hardware: The tilt tightening screws are poor quality - mine didn't break like others have mentioned, but they are stripped and are a pain to tighten & loosen - I am going to replace with something better. The rest of the hardware is not great but I was expecting this and so I purchased better hardware in advance - I used stainless steel lag bolts since I'm using this as an outdoor mount on my deck/ patio. The arms are difficult to maneuver but after some lubricant, they move with ease.
Install: I read all of the comments before purchasing and I was expecting the instructions to be very poor and set aside a big chunk of time for the install. I'm baffled on how people think this is difficult to install & I'm no engineer. While the instructions don't provide step-by-step pictures, they are very straight-forward and easy to follow. Honestly, you don't even need the instructions as this thing is a cinch to install (with a helper). You just need to make sure you're hitting the center in the studs and then it's as easy as hanging a picture (granted, a heavy one). Seriously, it took less than an hour and that included the time it took for the paint to dry (spray painted with a rust protection paint that matched my house exterior).
The TV does not sit level which is a little annoying. Following suggestions, I ensured the mount is level when fully extended during install; but the TV still is not level when mounted. Perhaps this is due to the mounting `hooks' on the TV, not the mount itself?
Summary: I am completely confident in this mounts ability to hold either my 32" or 50". I love this mount's maneuverability, functionality (holds a wide range of TV sizes) and ease of setting the TV. I also love that it has a small profile in that it virtually lays flat so that it is not noticeable or in the way when not in use. These factors are important to me since my TV will not be mounted 100% of the time.
Since I have it installed outdoors, I'll continue to monitor how it holds up to the weather. I live in the Midwest and we've had a ton of strong thunderstorms and rain this last month. Some of my trees haven't fared so well but so far, so good with the mount. How it functions in the spring following winter will be the true test.

WOW. I bought a cheetah mount that only tilts for my 52" SAMSUNG LCD TV. But the configuration of my living room/kitchen area had me thinking I'd rather go with an articulating wall mount, so I can turn it if I'm cooking or if I have people over on the sectional sofa I can turn it that (the opposite) way. So I bought this puppy (I kept the other tilting-only mount for my bedroom LCD TV which I haven't purchased yet). After taxes and S&H, it came out to $106. A similar product at BestBuy and hhgregg costs well over $300 (bestbuy has some that articulate and tilt that are up to $750!!!)
I'm a civil engineer, I work on designing things as a career. When I opened the box and saw the structural bulk of this thing, I was very impressed. I knew my brand new TV would be secure hanging from this thing. It came with a BUNCH of extra hardware in case you needed to use it (I ended up using the screws they supplied for the connection to the TV, since mine were too short). I also used their spacers to help ensure full thread engagement.
I wanted to install the TV on the wall and run the cables through the wall, so I had a lot of work cut out for me. Also, I live on a first floor condo unit, so my studs were in groups of 3 and only 12" apart. So I had to cut a whole in the drywall and add another adjacent stud to it. The lag screws they supplied are more than efficient. Just be sure to have the right sized screwdriver head to avoid stripping the heads.
Once I got the TV up I load tested it. I brought it out about 3/4 the total extension distance and first pulled down on it a bit. Then I slowly transferred all my weight to the mount. I heard a little bit of stress in the wood, but after all 215lbs of me was hanging from it, I knew that my 66 lb tv would be just fine. It's only upon writing this review that I see it's rated for 180 lbs. so it's a good thing that I didn't see that before load-testing it. (even though, being an engineer and all) I know things are derated all the time. The instructions were a little fuzzy, but it's still pretty easy to not screw up.
Feel free to ask me any questions about the TV or the wall mount, i'd be glad to answer.
Customer Review: Excellent mount Summary: 5 Stars
I used this mount for my 46" Toshiba LCD weighing 52 lbs. Everything with my mount came constructed as expected - all screws were included, no broken knobs, and the tv mounting plate is square with the wall mounting plate. The instructions are a little bare-bones, but it only takes a little bit of intuition to figure out what to use and how to do it. The package ships with a free magnetic 6" level, and the wall plate also has a bubble level built in - a nice touch. I did run to Home Depot to buy larger washers for the wall lag bolts - the included ones seemed a little small.
As others have pointed out, the mount is substantial - 30lbs of steel. This makes it heavy to hold up against the wall without a buddy, but I managed to solo mount the whole thing. Using a suggestion described by another, I extended the arms and placed the mount over my head so the wall plate was ~8" in front of my face (as was the built-in level), the arms were resting on my shoulders, and the tv plate was behind my head. I was able to screw in the top two lag bolts supporting the mount in this way; after that, the mount was secure enough on the wall to drill and screw in the other two lag bolts without additional support. From there, hanging the TV was as easy as stepping up on a footstool to get up to the right height.
Pretty easy to reposition (one arm is a little stiffer than the other, but it doesn't interfere with the motion) and feels really secure on the wall. Before attaching the TV, I was able to support nearly all my weight (180lbs) on the arms at 1/2 extension with barely so much as a creak; with a lightweight tv at just over 50lbs, I don't worry about this mount having any trouble.
Great price (half price on Amazon [$54+$19shipping] vs the manufacturer's website [$90+$30shipping]) and very fast shipping - came 2-day air from Arizona. I could not be more pleased with this purchase!
UPDATE: 6 months later - still holding strong! Advised to return the TV to the wall after you're done watching it if you have extended the arms out too far. I left my TV hanging out from the wall constantly when I first mounted it, and over time the hinges mid-arm have ever-so-slightly torqued under the extended weight. I still don't worry about the mount itself breaking - just don't see any reason to give it an opportunity to sag when it takes 5 seconds to reposition the TV when you're done.
