Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Streamzap PC Remote ControlCustomer Review: Streamzap DOES work with Windows 7 Summary: 4 Stars
I saw a few others on here who mentioned that the remote does not work with Win 7. If you use the supplied drivers, this is correct. However, before purchasing the remote, I contacted Streamzap customer support about the issue. They do indeed have a Win 7 driver and it works fine. [...]
So overall, there's not a whole lot you can do with the remote (or really any of the more basic HTPC remotes for that matter). Streamzap provides a list of what Windows apps work with their remote on their website so check there before buying.

I use primarily VLC to watch high def movies and it works nicely with VLC but offers only a small subset of commands to perform basic control operations. There is mouse mode which is nice, it doesn't come close to the functionality of a real mouse. I'm sure Girder could add a good bit of functionality to it but its not important enough for me to bother with.
Streamzap tech support was EXCELLENT - a rare find these days. I emailed them prior to purchasing and they responded with a very helpful response in less than 2 hours. And it wasn't the typical canned email full of irrelevant information. They answered my question exactly. A+
Customer Review: Great for those who don't want to customize! Summary: 4 Stars
We used this remote to program a Sony AV-RM3000 remote, but we need more flexibility for our HTPC. In hindsight, we should have bought a stand-alone IR unit and something like the Girder software. Or, maybe just an IR wireless keyboard.
This is not a remote for those seeking flexibility, or those who like to customize their media experience. This is an excellent remote for those who want out-of-the-box usability, and don't want to bother with customization. It's well-built, and will be exactly what many mainstream users are looking for.
Pros: Comfortable shape, sensible layout, high-quality feel, reasonably compatible with many programs
Cons: Doesn't do absolutely everything in every compatible application, only four somewhat-programmable keys with limited options
Customer Review: Excellent for my needs. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this remote control to control iTunes. I have my basement computer hooked-up to my stereo reciever. We use it to play all our music in the house. The only problem I had was having to run down stairs every time I wanted to skip a song. This solved the problem for me. I got a couple USB extension cables and ran then through the wall to the basement computer. Now I can control iTunes just as if I was at the computer.
I havent tried any of the other features so I cant comment on those, but for my needs I think it works great. The only problem I've had ia that the buttons are pretty sensetive, so if I hold down the skip button to long it will skip a couple of song. Just push the button fast, and problem solved. I recomend this to anyone wanting to control their media player.
Customer Review: My PC Remote from Streamzap Summary: 4 Stars
I just installed the PC Remote from Streamzap and it works fine. However, it would not work using the drivers that came on the installation CD. The IR receiver would not work and was not recognized by the PC. The PCRemote.exe file that came on the CD that installs the drivers was version 2.7.0.0 and would not work on my Dell D610 Laptop running Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2. I went to the Streamzap website and downloaded the latest driver which was 2.9.6.0. After installing that driver, the PC was able to recognize the IR receiver and everything else worked fine. I think this PC Remote was a good buy and don't expect to have any more problems.
Customer Review: Not a bad remote Summary: 4 Stars
The only bad thing I can really say is there is STILL no support for 64bit Windows. Not sure why this isn't a priority but I have been waiting for months and months for a compatible driver. But besides that works good, no other real complaints but to be fair, I haven't been able to actually use it for more than a year since I built the machine and loaded Vista Home Premium 64bit.
Do not know exactly when they put the driver into beta but if you email customer support at Streamzap they will send you the driver. It works with either Vista or Win7 64bit. Works great for everything I need it for.
