Not much of a sound loss or any such issue. I am able to use the logitech wired headphones with this adapter for both stereo sound and microphone (for ip telephony and normal iphone calls).

I'm sorry to see so many negative reviews. This adapter does exactly what I need it to. It allows me to plug a normal 3.5mm jack into the iphone. I use it in my car to hook the iphone up to the line-in on my car stereo and it works just fine.Customer Review: Works with iPhone 4 bumper

Works great with Iphones 2G and 3G, No distortion...using these connected iphones to regular headphones, Sony home threatre, casette adapter in my car and FM transmitter in my car. No tried on anything else as yet apart from the Iphone.
