Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go Velocity Series 40315 HDMI Cable (Blue, 2 meters)Customer Review: Great cable, works beautifully Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this cable to connect a Toshiba HD-A30 HD-DVD player and a Philips 37" LCD HDTV. Cable worked perfectly. Image quality is noticeably better through the HDMI than using component video connections. As many other reviewers have stated, the signal being carried by HDMI cables is all digital, and thus not even remotely as susceptible to signal loss or interference over relatively short cable runs as analog signals can be. For this reason, you absolutely do not need the $100+ cables sold at the brick and mortar big-box stores. In fact, the devilish side of me is thinking I need to go in to the cable-making business because there is some unbelievable mark-up going on there.
Customer Review: Excellent Quality! Affordable Price!! Summary: 5 Stars
Cables To Go offers these HDMI cables at less than HALF the price of the cables sold at places like Wal-Mart but they are, in my opinion, as good if not better quality than those more expensive cables. Many people I have talked to say that connecting your HDTV with an HDMI cable as opposed to component video and audio cables makes no difference in picture quality. I disagree. I believe for the best quality picture from your HDTV, HDMI is the way to go, not to mention the convenience of ONE cable that delivers the picture and sound as opposed to FIVE cables required for component connection. HDMI is the way to go... and Cables To Go are the cables to buy at Amazon.com!

Did a bit of research before I bought these cables. The salesfolks at the store where I bought our Sony XBR4 HDTV insisted you have to buy the $110 cables - nothing else will do - "why buy a great TV and lose so much by using bad (= cheap) cables" - etc. Most of the reviews said otherwise. I went with the folks who said you may as well give them a try; you're not out much dough if they don't work and if they do work you've saved a bunch!! Bought `em - love `em.
One note: we have a short run between the component and the TV (6.5 ft cable). Based on reviews and ratings, if I had a longer run, I would probably have gone with a different cable.

I can understand why one can get into the nuances of analog interconnects and speaker cables. I once owned pretty high-end gear and could hear the difference when I changed speaker cables to my Martin-Logan electrostatic panels. I owned $175 a pair analog interconnects to connect my tube preamp, tube D/A converter ... You get the picture.
I live in the real world now and this cable works fine to connect my Yamaha receiver to Toshiba HDTV. I have another HDMI cable I bought at Radio Shack (don't recall the brand) for a lot more $$$. Only got that because I was in a hurry. I see no difference.
So, just buy this cable, or several at this price. It works.
Customer Review: A Great Cable. Why Pay More? Summary: 5 Stars
Popular Mechanics recently did a test where they pitted HDMI cables costing over $100.00 against those costing less than $20.00.
The verdict:
No difference. You get just as good a picture with the inexpensive HDMI cable as you do with the expensive "scary creature" cables.
Yea, if you put these cables on an oscilloscope you might be able to see differences in them, however, the differences will never be detectable by "human" senses.
So, if you have "more money than brains", you can buy the super expensive "scary creature" cables, or, you can save a few dollars and get these cables and have just as good of a picture and sound.
