Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 40320 Velocity HDMI to DVI-D Digital Video Cable (2 Meter/6.5 Feet)

Customer Review: No need to pay more, and no problems connecting to an HDTV
Summary: 5 Stars

I used this cable to connect my old xp machine to my hdtv to use as a media center. The product does exactly what it is meant to do, without any problems whatsoever. I don't know if I would trust anything cheaper than this (I've had a few bad experiences in the past), but I would definitely not pay a penny more.

The audio can be tricky, since this doesn't actually pass any audio to your TV. Most hdtv's (including my Panasonic plasma) allow you to connect your audio to ANY audio jack in the TV, and then go through the settings to "pair" that audio jack with the hdmi input. Just check the manual or do a search online for it.

As for resolution, I had to set my machine (with a very old video card) to a lower resolution. Just play around with different resolutions until you find one that fits nicely. Mine has a thin black bar going around the screen, since an actual 720p resolution was somehow too large. However, the black bar is no problem for us, and I don't even notice it most of the time. Nothing is cut off unless you pick a resolution that is too high for the TV.

Customer Review: Get Picture & Sound from your Computer to your HDTV
Summary: 5 Stars

From what I recall of earlier reviews, there was concern that sound could not be heard without outside speakers linked to the computer. I have a Sony 42 inch LCD digital TV which provides four HDMI input locations. One of those locations also provides a place to connect a cable for stereo sound inputs. To do that, all I had to do was to buy a cable with a mini-jack at one end to insert in the computer's earphone jack, and with two RCA jacks at the other end to plug into the TV. This cable is available from Radio Shack at about $5.

I have copied old video that I made during the mid-1980's onto DVDs, and wanted to see and hear it on the big screen. I connected my computer to the TV using the HDMI to DVI cable and the sound cable, inserted a DVD into the computer, and was very pleased with the result. It looked and sounded as if the video had been taken yesterday. Not sure if this is true, but it seemed that the picture on the Sony TV was actually better than the original video tape. I am expecting that this will work with movie DVDs as well.

Customer Review: Don't pay retail price
Summary: 5 Stars

HDMI cables at retail go for stupid insane prices. Some start around $40, and I've seen them north of $150 for Monster Cables. Total rip off. See, back in the days when audio/video was still handled over analog cable, you could (arguably) get much better quality by using high end super-cables with stuff like gold plating. Companies made a fortune charging idiots who didn't know any better for these high end cables.

Now, we have digital audio and video, like HDMI. One of the neat things about digital is that the signal doesn't degrade. You either have one or you don't, and the cable quality simply controls the maximum length. These companies couldn't simply have their market collapse though, so they still sell these overpriced cables to suckers.

You're reading this review, so you're not a sucker. Don't buy expensive digital cables, ever. This one works perfectly well connecting my computer to my Vizio TV, and quality is perfect.

Customer Review: Works beautifully
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this to feed my PS3 signal to my monitor and it works beautifully. Despite the fact that my monitor is not HD and only supports 480p, I have been pleased with the quality I have been getting. Of course, my monitor is not my primary screen, and switching back and forth between my monitor and TV can cause some problems as the PS3 gets "confused" about what video signal to send out. For instance, I might use an HDMI cable to use the PS3 on my TV at 1080p, then bring it back to my monitor, to which my monitor tells me that the signal is not supported. The problem occurs with the included A/V cable or a component cable. There is a simple solution to this problem. While the PS3 is off with the red light on, hold the power button for five-six seconds until the system beeps a few times in a row. The PS3 will then boot up and ask what video settings you want. Presto!

Customer Review: Quality cable for the low price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a second cable to feed my second LCD monitor using the Windows Dualview feature on my computer. My HP desktop computer has an Nvidia GeForce 8500GT video card capable of dual monitors. Nice feature as I didn't have to buy a second video card. I needed a second monitor for editing photos, creating slide shows and movies, and for viewing multiple charts using different software programs at the same time.

The cable works as advertised and very easy to install. Overall, I'm very happy with the cable plus I saved $15 to $50 dollars instead of buying it at a retail store. Good quality on the color and resolution. No noticeable differences between the two monitors on color, reaction time, or resolution.
