Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 5 Stars

To confirm what others have been reporting here for years, this cable works just as well as the very expensive ones you'll find at brick and mortars, and for a small fraction of the price.

Back in the days where all signals were passed along analog cables, there was indeed somewhat of a difference in the quality of the image or sound received at the far end of the cable, especially on a long run of cable.

Digital is another story, but the cable making companies don't want you to know that ... it would destroy their cash cow. $10 DVI cables deliver just as well at $70 ones. $3 HDMI cables do exactly the same job as $50 ones. So don't be fooled. The cables are passing data, not signal. If all the data reaches the far end, you're going to get it from your viewing/listening device. And as long as there isn't a defect in the cable, all the data WILL reach the far end.

Why am I getting a DVI cable at this late date? Well, I bought a 28" Viewsonic monitor for $250, which is a great deal in itself. It only had VGA and DVI inputs. I got a video card with both outputs, and I'm driving a dual monitor set up out of the one card. To buy a monitor with HDMI would have cost another $100, and it would have had the same performance. HDMI is not superior to DVI, its just a smaller connection ... plus it also carries sound. Since my monitor doesn't have speakers, that isn't an issue.

Highly recommended cable as a good value.

Customer Review: Don't Spend More

STOP. Do not buy cables at an electronic's superstore. YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF.

I needed a DVI cable and went to an electronic's superstore and found that they wanted $45 for a DVI cable. A search on Amazon for a USB cable yields a $10-$15 price. Just plain horrible and wrong that someone would charge 4x as much as is reasonable for a cable.

I came online and found Cables to Go with a $10 price for a DVI cable. Construction quality is fantastic and better than the $45 cable I returned to the superstore .... better yet, this 1/4 the price of the electronic's superstore "brand name" cable.

Frankly, I will ONLY buy cables from cables to go. I'm on a mission to get the word out that we as consumers are being ripped off in the area of computer cords that cost just waaaaaaay too much and where I'm not getting much more.

Some people will say that the signal is better on some 'name brand' cables, or that the insulation is better, or that "whatever" is better. In my experience in using thousands of different computer cables in my life, I have yet to really experience the difference. Yes DVI is better than VGA and USB and Firewire is better than Serial but the difference is based on the standard, not the cable architecture. When it comes to construction, this cable from cables to go is everybit as good as what comes in OEM packaging.

Fantastic!

Customer Review: No more green sparkles!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was using the cable that came with my 19 inch viewsonic monitor for 5 years and it looked exactly like this cableb but it only had 18 pins and this has 24 pins. For the last few days I was getting green sparkles indicating cable or hardware failure. I like this monitor and didn't want a widescreen one for day to day activities so this cable was a godsend.

I was researching cables and most go for 30 bucks wow what a rip off for a dvi cable. It is a bit stiff and thick but I'm glad because hopefully it will last for 5 years.

I'm as happy as a clam I was using a dsub temporarily yesterday to test out if it is the cable and my initial hunch was right I wasn't getting any green sparkles with the dsub so it was narrowed down to cable or the connector and I'm glad it was just the cable.

Thank you Cables to Go I also have your 7 port hub which works great as well its blue and has a black light that matches everything.

This wasn't suppose to be shipped out so quickly but I got it Amazon still states its not send out.

Customer Review: Works as expected
Summary: 5 Stars

It works as expected, the only problem is if you own Windows 7 64bit Operating System RTM, and if you decide to reinstall it on your hard drive. You'll come across a black screen on booting the freshly installed Operating System. This has nothing to do with this vendor's cable, It's something that Windows has to fix. Just switch to a VGA cable and then switch it back to DVI when the system boots. This is just a heads up for you all. Other than that it's a very good cable and well worth it's price, pretty great on shipping too if you would like to hear that from me.

Oh yes another thing too, If you expect a big difference in quality when you switch to DVI from VGA. You will not really find much of a difference if you have a medium resolution on your monitor. The larger the screen resolution gets, the blurrier it will appear. DVI can relieve that quite effectively. There's no big boost in frames for games either. So don't expect a big boost on your games if you decide to switch.

Customer Review: Very good cable
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very high quality cable. It may not have the expensive marketing of Monster, but it has all the right materials, specifically high-performance polypropylene foam dielectric on the signal lines. The connectors are large and solidly molded. Cable diameter is somewhat large at about 9 millimeters or 3/8 of an inch, but that's a result of the good internal construction. That favorable construction also results in a cable that's somewhat stiff, but fully managable. Be sure to get a cable long enough so you can have some slack to make a strain relief loop at the connections. (In other words the cables should not be pulled tight at the connectors or into sharp bends anywhere. Bends should be gradual, with large radii.) Cables To Go also has 3 and 5 meter versions which Amazon sells, and probably other lengths also. It may take some searching to find them, but it's probably worth it.
