I was really unsure as to whether or not this product would work for my camera battery, but I just decided to go with it anyway because in the worst-case scenario I was out only about ten dollars from buying it. When it came (in moderate shipping time, mind you) I opened the package, tested it out immediately, and found that it was the wrong size for my battery--but a slip of paper said that if I had ANY problems that I should call the customer support. The man on the phone was very patient as he explained how I attach the extension that it came with so that it would work perfectly for my camera's battery--and now even as I write my battery is charging in this charger!
I would recommend that you double check that this will work for your camera battery just so that you aren't disappointed by that...but don't hesitate at all if you find that it does because you will save about thirty bucks!

This little charger works! Lost the battery charger that came with my camera and was shocked at how expensive replacement Sony branded chargers are. I normally prefer branded items for things like battery chargers, but after reading the other reviews, I decided to take a chance on this. It does what it's supposed to - it charged my battery in about 2 hours (from dead). The light is supposed to have different colors, but for some reason the light colors didn't match the instructions. It was a little different, so I could still tell when it was charged versus not. I would prefer it gave an indication of how much charge is in the battery, but for under $10, I can't complain.
PROS: nice plug - flips into the charger body for a smaller footprint, small and easy to carry, has a car charger (although I haven't tried it yet)

When I saw the price for the charger I needed I thought, "oh man, I'm taking a chance but I'll try it anyway." Well, it arrived broken. Bummer, I emailed and got a very quick very professional responce. Then I called the number I received on the email for customer service. I couldn't believe it, I was speaking to someone who not only spoke fluent English but was also polite, kind, and understanding; most amazing of all - they were willing to help me!!! Well, a couple of days later I received a return packing envelope, sent off my battery and received a brand new one in it's place, no questions asked.
It works like a charm! Best of all it was about $5.00 total. I will recommend these guys to everyone.
Great company to work with I am 100% pleased. If they sell it & I need it, I will order from them.

This charger works perfectly with a Sony NP-BG1 battery. The only wrinkle (and I suspect this may explain some of the problems people who gave it one star were having) is that you have to put the battery in backwards, i.e. so the back of the battery faces out.
I too noticed that the green light came on just from plugging it in, and putting the battery in with the front facing out did nothing. I was about to throw the charger out when my wife (being of an infinitely calmer mind at that point) tried putting the battery in backwards. On came the red light, the battery charged up perfectly, and all was well.
Don't let the cheap price scare you away. Buy this charger.

Having lost my original charger right before I had a big trip to go on I was in a tight spot. Amazon was definetly the best site I came across in my search for a replacement. The price was outstanding. Some camera equipment sites were charging as much as 40 for a similar if not the same product. And since I needed it in as little time as possible the overnight shipping ption came in very handy.
So far I've had no problems with the charger. The collapseable plug makes it convienient to travel with, as does the car charging attachment.
This product offers a great overall value. Buy it now. Stop searching you won't find a better deal.
