Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Crucial 2GB Set(2x1GB) 200-Pin PC2 5300 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2 RAM

Customer Review: Effortless to install
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an HP laptop that's a few years old, and its maddening how slow it's gotten. I don't keep any photos/music etc on the computer so I can keep my hard drive uncluttered, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. I like to do photo editing, but it's become tedious because of the computer's speed.

I've previously opened up my laptop and reseated my RAM before, so I was familiar with it's location. Other then that, I'm just a girl who's somewhat tech savvy, but no genius by any means. I think almost anyone could easily upgrade their RAM on a laptop or netbook.

I removed my battery, grounded myself so there was no static issues and then popped out my old RAM(I was at 1GB before) and inserted the new 2 GB of RAM. Restarted my computer and it was up and running. Nothing else to do or change, and my computer is much faster and has a better response time overall. I'm happy I finally just bought the darn RAM, now using my laptop can be fun instead of an aggravation!

Customer Review: Good price, product, and service
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this from Amazon because it was cheaper than on Crucial's site plus I used free shipping and save some more money. I used Crucial's site though to download their program which reads your computer and tells you exactly what you have now and what is compatible with your computer. (By the way for those who complained that they thought they were getting one card of two gig, there it clearly says that it is two separate gig not one card)

I then thought I had an issue because the computer was beeping and wouldn't turn on until I removed the old half gig of memory and just had the two new gig. I was about to rate this less than five star and decided to call Crucial first. Their technical support was very knowledgeable, nice and helpful. This, even though I told them that I bought it from Amazon rather than straight from them. The solution worked as he said it should.

I wish all customer and tec support would go so smoothly.

Customer Review: crucial ram upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

Upgraded an ACER Travelmate 4220 from 512mb to 2gb. Also removed windows XP and loaded Ubuntu 10.01.. All the difference in the world. System is responsive and no longer hangs up while windows features load. Know that the OS change is significant, but still the speed and response with the ram upgrade is significant. Installation was a snap... Turned the laptop over; removed 7 small screws. Removed the panel covering the ram area on the motherboard. Unclipped to ram sticks; opened the package from crucial and put the two 1gb chips in. No muss, no fuss. Hardest part was remembering to put the small screws into a saucer so I wouldn't lose them. Have been down that road in the past.

Shipment from Amazon was a major hassle. Took a week to get from a post-office 600 miles away to my local PO. Somehow FEDEX was involved. Won't be going there again.

Excellent product... Poor seller service.

Customer Review: Older MacBook Laptop Answer
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an older (2006) White Macbook which came with 512mb of total ram. Those looking to run Apples new software, snow leopard are unable due to the insufficient amount of ram (requires 1 GB). With only one usable review of this product, I figured I'd give it a shot based on the price. Easy to install, and your done. At first I was extremely skeptical, thinking I would have to disassemble the entire computer to get access to the memory. With the simple action of taking out the battery and removing a metal strip (3 screws), pop out the existing memory and replacing with the new, I now have 2GB of ram, just by turning on the computer. No installs or configuration, its good to go. Now able to download the new software, and no issues thus far. Its only been a day, but everything is running smooth and fast. I would certainly recommend this product for older Macbook users.

Customer Review: Very affordable
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great. It took maybe two minutes to swap this out with the old RAM in my HP notebook. It was automatically recognized, so I didn't have to do anything else, and I've had no problems.

I'm very pleased and can't believe how cheap this was.

If you aren't sure about what RAM you need, or the maximum your motherboard will run, Crucial's website will help you out. I would also recommend that you open it up and check what's in there, just to be sure. My old RAM sticks had little stickers on them with the model number, so I was able to look it up and verify that I was getting the right ones.

If you are squeamish about opening up your notebook, check out some how to videos on the internet. Seeing someone else do it will show you how easy it is.
