Customer Review: Excellent memory, but not the best one for the EEE PC 1000HE

Crucial makes good memory. This is good memory, only I blew it and ordered this and not the PC-6400 (800MHZ) that the Crucial memory advisor recommends. The EEE PC 1000HE comes with 1GB of PC-5300, but when replacing with the 2GB, it is better to go with the Crucial Technology CT25664AC800 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Module as recommended.
I installed this before ever turning on the EEE, so I didn't have to do anything to get it to recognize the memory -- however when shutting down in XP, there would occasionally be errors which have been attributed to upping the memory without going up to 800MHZ. However, I installed Windows 7 on the second partition, and am now using it almost exclusively, and there have not been any of those shutdown errors with W7.
I'm still going to get the 800MHZ though :)

This is the 2nd Crucial RAM I purchased in over the year. The first time was when purchased directly from Crucial. I upgraded my Acer laptop from 1GB to 2GB and I couldn't be happier with the product. Installing the RAM into my ACER laptop was a breeze. I've heard many times that Crucial was a very reputable company, and I was glad to see it was true.
The 2nd time I purchased a Crucial Ram is when I purchased this item for my new Asus eee 1005HA pc. Again Crucial nor Amazon let me down.
I purchased the 2GB RAM that Amazon recommended and installed it in 5 minutes and it gave the system bit of a boost. Forewarning, the area to remove/change the RAM on this netbook is just a bit larger than the actual RAM chip, so be very careful not to force the old RAM out and the new RAM in. (See separate review)Other than that, changing the RAM is quite easy. I'd have no problems with recommending Crucial products.

I have an iMac intel core duo 2006 and I checked with both Apple & Crucial to be certain I had the right item. Because, of course, the wrong thing would be devastating. It was perfect and my computer runs faster. The spinning ball was driving me crazy before I added the new memory.
My only suggestion to others might be to back up your computer before starting and read the instructions carefully about how to install it & print them. I read them and tried to put it in when I was tired & it was late in the evening; didn't get it, panicked because now I couldn't reread the instructions at all (they're on the computer). Once I got one to seat correctly, I reread them and everything worked out fine. Stupid mistakes on my part.
So, before installing, I remind you of the basics: RTM (Read The Manual) & Back it up (For safety's sake because "Thing's occur".).
Customer Review: Worth the money for your Netbook

I got this memory card to upgrade my ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Netbook which came with 1GB of RAM. The machine came with Windows 7 Starter Edition and 1GB is just about enough to run the OS but not much else. This causes the PC to keep swapping out memory to disk (paging) and adversely affects performance. Once the memory was added I could see a marked improvement in performance. With a couple of browsers, some gadgets on the desktop and a spreadsheet (Open Office) all open I average around 1.3GB of memory usage, pretty cool.
Installation (for me) was a snap, open the back where the old memory is (make sure you don't have any rings or metal on your hands), push a couple of lugs aside to remove the old chip and slot in the new one. Check out YouTube for videos on how to do this for your PC.
All-in-all a good buy (Amazon was the cheapest including shipping).

So Easy. I used Crucial website to tell me what ram I needed and ordered from Amazon. Actually I paid about 3 bucks more but well worth it. I watched the youtube a few times because I was nervous installing it myself, I never installed ram before. I removed my battery as requested, unplugged everthing and unscrewed the ram memory cover. When I looked I thought I had the wrong one. I had to remove my old memory card and installed the new one. I have a Dell Inspiron and it recognized that I increased the memory. On my computer I had to hit F1 and it recognized it right away. Went to My Computer and saw the new increased memory. It was so easy. The speed is unbelievable, I should have done it this long time ago. Very happy with the card and was delivered in a few days. Extemely happy with the purhase and it worked. Thank You Amazon.
