Customer Review: Amazingly cheap boost for my 1000HE
Summary: 5 Stars

I own the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160gb HD).

First you have to open the cover plate on the bottom of the Eee. That's the ONLY scary part of this process. I've been working on computers since the days of Time-Seared HP systems, so I'm no novice. However, the friction between the plate and the case is such that it felt as if I were going to damage the computer by applying too much force. I read several reviews on line and one mentioned this and that it would be ok. So, I went ahead and applied more force and presto out came the plate without any damage. Then you just release the clips holding the original memory, the card pops up, you pull it out without any force at all, slide the new 2gb card in to replace the original card, replace the cover, reinsert the battery, and turn on the computer.

This new memory card worked like a charm and was instantly recognized. You can hit F2 while the computer is booting and go into the bios to check if you'd like, or change it manually if needed, but this is not necessary in the newer 1000HE models. As has been noted elsewhere there are YouTube videos which show the entire process - they will help the novice a great deal.

Customer Review: Makes A Big Difference - Highly Recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

This Crucial "2gb Laptop Memory" has made a significant improvement in the performance of my ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-MU17-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 8.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter). I have upgraded several PCs with Crucial memory and have never been disappointed.

Installation into my ASUS 1005HA was fairly straight forward, requiring opening the Memory Compartment on the bottom of the netbook, removing the pre-installed 1gb memory card, and inserting this Crucial 2gb memory card. My ASUS did not see the whole 2gb on boot up, so I rebooted while pressing F2 (to enter Configuration Mode), confirmed it saw the 2gb and pressed F10 (to Save and Exit). This was likely was caused by the ASUS fast boot setting and not specific to the new memory.

This extra memory was definitely a worthwhile investment for me since I sometimes use the netbook for my work and need to have multiple applications running concurrently, something that was on occasional painfully slow before this upgrade.

Highly Recommended!

Customer Review: Reliable, Good value RAM
Summary: 5 Stars

Popped 2 of these (i.e. 4GB total) into my Dell Latitude D630 over a year ago in place of a single 1GB.

Pros:
- Dramatic improvement in performance, as expected.
- Great price.
- Reliable - still going strong after a year with no known issues.
- Very few BSODs (XP Pro) and I know the ones I did get were caused by Logitech drivers.

Other notes:
- XP only recognized 3.2 of the 4GB, since it only supports a max of 4GB addressing including address space for all the other system components such as display, ports, etc. (that used up the remaining 0.8GB). I could have probably done a 2+1 GB instead, but its not a significant difference in price, so I have no regrets.
- If you're not sure what memory type your laptop supports, try the Crucial memory finder to determine the RAM specs compatible with your laptop model and then shop for those specs (irrespective of the brand you eventually choose). Note that laptop memory is 200-Pin and desktop memory is 184-pin. Also, DDR and DDR2 are not compatible with each other; DDR is much more expensive and that can't be helped.

Customer Review: NETBOOK OWNERS! THIS IS THE RAM UPGRADE YOU NEED
Summary: 5 Stars

uneducated customers shouldn't do reviews... They scare away others... Horrifying to see a misinformed customer giving bad information to others... If you don't have a clue... *SHHHHH

I've installed this on my own as well as several of my friend's netbooks... ASUS, Samsung, Acer, etc. Not once did i get a memory dump, BSOD, or errors with the RAM... This RAM WORKS.
Yes this is the 667Mhz ram. Yes the 800Mhz ram is faster... but the performance difference isn't a big one... AND its only a speed difference! Your laptop isn't going to fail all of a sudden because its the "wrong ram"... unless you got a bad stick of ram, or you're an idiot who snapped the ram installing it...
Contact AMAZON, or CRUCIAL for a RMA if its a bad one. Slap yourself if you broke it by accident.....

But yeah... This stick of ram works fine in your netbook. Stop panicking. Just add to cart and checkout. If it really bothers you, and you'll sleep better at night, get it the 800mhz one... its only 6-7 dollars difference...
If you really wanted a fast laptop... you really shouldn't be buying a netbook...

Customer Review: Be sure to have the exactly correct Phillips Head. Then everything should go well.
Summary: 5 Stars

Although I believed that I had an appropriate Phillips Head screw driver set....two hours later I had not been able to open the screwed down memory cover for the upgrade.
I ended up ordering a Phillips Head Computer set from Amazon for about $10 with a 1 day delivery for another $20 plus!.... They should have included the tool with the netbook, upgrade, and cover package, and guaranteed that the screw on the cover would not be frozen.
I will try to write a followup review to let shoppers know how practical this packaged upgrade really is.
I have come to trust Amazon to always "cover all the bases" this time they delivering a problematically presented package to me, when I have come to trust that their degree of attention to detail would at least present even simple problems as a possibility and suggest solutions, ...even at extra cost, to such an issue on the main product site.
I must now tell you that after the tool kit arrived, and I called Crucial who informed me that despite the number differences, the part was correct, the operation of the Crucial/Asus 1005PE was flawless.
