Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub

Customer Review: works great, wanted a powered hub
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great! I bought one after getting tired of bending over to place/replace usb connections to the computer, especially in the squished space in the back, and even though I had added a 4-port non-powered hub.

I wanted a powered hub because I noticed my ipod began charging exasperating slowly when plugged into the 4-port hub. I recharge it every day, take the cable with me, and wanted to be able to attach it every evening at my desk.

Also, I like having the cables organized in one place. I'm going to label them. As for the little blue light, I like it.

I'm thinking of buying a second one. It looks like there's no end to usb devices and it's more convenient for me to leave the cables in and then simply attach the device when needed. Which is what I do for my blackberry also.

Customer Review: Nice hub
Summary: 5 Stars

Cables To Go must have listened to previous complaints, because my hub came supplied with a foam tape that could be used to prevent the hub from sliding in the base. This would enable a vertical mount to be used. I actually thought the hub slid around too much as is just sitting on my desk, so I still used the tape--I don't need it sliding around when I plug/unplug my USB devices. I don't think it will budge unless I forcibly move it.

I like the fact that it has some ports in back and others in the front, so I can use the back ports for stuff that stays plugged in all the time (such as my printer) and the front ports for things I plug and unplug frequently (such as my digital camera, iPod, etc.).

It works just fine, and even looks kind of cool, so it's getting 5 stars from me.

Customer Review: Works perfectly
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this product because the measly 3 USB ports on my laptop just weren't cutting it. (when I bought this, I only knew of 2 ports, so it was even more necessary) I have a Western Digital 1 tb external hard drive, a webcam, two flash drives, a wireless mouse, a laptop cooling fan, and a printer hooked up and it works beautifully. At first, I was worried that my mouse would be laggy but it wasn't and I was worried about the heat from so many plug-ins, but at most it gets warm. The only complaint I have is that at night, my roommate complained that the blue light on top was bright enough to throw a shadow on his side of the room. Now, I just leave my laptop open and it blocks the light.

As a college student on a stict budget, this product does what it is supposed to and I love it.

Customer Review: PERFECT....
Summary: 5 Stars

OK, nothing is perfect, but this little hub comes real close. Bought two of them as we have several laptops and use them in differant locations. One is an older dell with only one usb port. This little hub solved the problems we were having with connections. Compact, light and very easy to mount to almost any surface. Very sturdy construction and nice layout of ports. Works flawlessly and without any special software, just plug it in and go. We use it in the powered mode, but I understand it does a fine job unpowered also. Highly recommend. UPDATE: We have been using these hubs for two years now. One on each laptop and have had zero problems. Speed does not seem affected on any of the devices we have plugged into them. They just seem to the job exceptionaly well. Still highly reccommend.

Customer Review: Very nice and sturdy
Summary: 5 Stars

This is without a doubt the best USB hub I have ever purchased. The Cables To Go USB hub is actually enclosed in a metal housing (instead of the chintzy plastic most others are made of) and includes a slide-on metal base with two screws that can be used to mount the hub to the desk, wall, or other surface.

Even better, the Cables To Go USB Hub uses a standard USB to mini-USB cable (included in the box) to connect the hub to the computer.

I currently have two of these units daisy chained together. I connected the majority of my USB devices to the first unit (wireless keyboard and wireless mouse "dongles", external USB drive, and wireless headset transceiver). The second unit acts as an extension so I can plug in two printers on the other side of the room.
