Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 7 Port USB 2.0 HubCustomer Review: This is much better than the mediocre USB Hubs I've used! Summary: 5 Stars
As I've stated: "This is much better than the mediocre USB Hubs I've used in the past!" I'm not sure what some of the negative reviewers are belly-aching about, but this USB Hub really works well! As I've always considered, many computer setups may negate many devices from being integrated together. I've had nothing but a great experience with this USB Hub. Many of the USN Hubs I've had in the past were really pathetic, and did not offer a AC adapter to avoid using the PC/Laptop's power to power you USB devices. This is especially necessary when it comes to Laptops, Netbooks, and even gaming consoles (PS3 and XBOX 360). The only complaint I have is that it doesn't utilize some sort of smart power-switching technology that can detect when the device it is connected to is off. I hate this because my External Hard-drive stays on all-night unless I unplug the AC adapter to the USB Hub. Overall, great product, great speed, and great design.
Customer Review: Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
This usb 2.0 hud seems to be working just fine, as I've only used it for two days. I can plug all my flash drives into it and have access to everything I need without plugging and unplugging into the ports provided on the back of my computer and it saves me the hassel of crawling under the desk. I solved the problem of the hub sliding out of it's base by using transparent scotch tape and it works great. I also added a strip of black tape to cover the blue light that was repeatedly mentioned in other reviews, no more problems. If it continue to work as I expect it to I will be satisfied with it. Another plus is, it was delivered on time. I'm considering ordering 1 more for myself and 1 for my granddaughter whom has the same problem I had (not enough usb ports). I found that all products don't always work as advertised, but on the other hand some do, so I pray that I will not be in that samll precentage that has to return this hub.
Customer Review: Solid and Compact Summary: 5 Stars
I spent some serious cash long time (over $50) ago for a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Hub, and always had issues with it after about a year, especially attaching to a power-required device, such as a external USB HD; Despite the fact the Belkin hub had its own AC. It had problems recognizing devices, and also gets pretty hot.
This is the first time I bought this brand, mostly due to many other positive reviews. I've very impressed with the all metal finish. It's also very small and compact. The small base (which you could glue to) provided enough weight to keep it relative stable, but I do prefer for it to be much more heavy. If you detach the base, it's also very ideal for portable use, such as with a laptop.
Connectivity works great, I've already had three external HDs attached to it; two of them without its own AC and relies purely on USB power. Overall I'm very happy.
Customer Review: Great Hub for Mac OS X users! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this hub mostly for needing extra ports along with all the positive reviews combined with a nice price. I bought this in anticipation of buying a MacBook Air (only 1 USB port, sadly).
Right now it's connected to my iBook G4, and all 7 ports are filled, and everything is working perfectly. Connected to it are the following:
(1) D-Link Bluetooth Dongle (USB 1.1 device)
(2) 250 GB hard drive
(3) 500 GB hard drive
(4) 2 GB thumb drive
(5) 7-in-1 flash card reader
(6) Elgato Turbo.264
(7) iPod Shuffle, 2nd generation
All devices are running well and at expected USB 2 speeds, where supported. I also do NOT have it plugged into the wall, with the included power adapter.
All in all, a first rate hub... at a nice price. You don't need to spend the extra $10-$20 for a name brand like Cisco or D-Link.
Customer Review: Cables To Go 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub Summary: 5 Stars
Very well made. Metal base can be screwed down or velcroed, and hub itself can be slid in and out. I have it attached vertically on the hutch atop my desk.(the product now includes an insert to keep the hub from sliding down in a vertical installation;it works fine) It is a pleasure to use since it is rock solid and at eye level. 3 ports face forward for temporary use like camera cards, ipods, etc. Rear-facing 4 ports have more permanent connections like printer, scanner, external hard drive. What sold me on this is the fact that, unlike desktop models, this will not slide around or require two hands to use. As for the blue light criticism, in my setup the light shines perpendicular to my field of vision, so it is not a factor at all. Everything I have plugged into it has worked, including the Sentry Safe fireproof waterproof external drive, which requires two powered USB ports.
