Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 7 Port USB 2.0 HubCustomer Review: Does what I expected Summary: 5 Stars
I now use a laptop as my main computer rather than a stand alone PC. That means that I can't install any circuit cards to perform needed functions like I/O so I have to work with what's in the laptop. I found that I was often connecting USB connnectors to my laptop to perform these I/O functions. I became concerned that connnecting and disconnecting connectors would eventually wear out the USB connectors on my laptop and that they couldn't be replaced. So, I purchased this USB Port as essentially a "connector saver". I plug the USB Hub into my PC and then plug the USB things, like my external backup hard drive, into the Hub. I already have a Bluetooth USB adapter and a USB mouse plugged into other laptop USB ports so I am limited as to how many USB devices I can plug in to my laptop. So far, this Hub has worked just fine. I like the fact that it is "powered" so I don't have to rely on my laptop to supply the power. Bottom line, it works okay and the price is good.
Customer Review: As excellent as it is compact. Summary: 5 Stars
There are some very common problems with USB hubs regardless of assumed quality that this one, I'm glad to say, has none of.
1.Price: For a true USB 2.0 7-port hub with AC adapter and mounting base, the price was low enough to make me question its quality. I'm glad I took a chance on it.
2.Speed: 2.0 tends to get tossed around a lot especially with a lot of the Chinese junk that even Amazon sells. Nonetheless, this one is the real deal. I can run two external hard drives on it to my MacBook Pro with no difference in speed than if I had them hooked to my computer directly.
3.Build quality: All the ports on this thing hold plugs tightly, to include the AC adapter. It sits quite well when it is placed loose on a desk though due to limited space, I have mine mounted vertically on my desk.
Though I have only had this hub for a month, I have had no issues with it whatsoever despite having all ports used most of the time.
Customer Review: Flawless Summary: 5 Stars
Everything I could want from a USB hub and more. I've been using this for almost 8 months and I can't find a single bad thing to say about it. When I first got it, I was disappointed because even though it came with a base to mount it, it seemed like there was no way to lock it into the base. However, when I inspected the contents of the package more thoroughly, I realized that there was a small foam pad that you could stick to the base that would hold it in place perfectly. Also, it has a cool looking blue light on it. It's simply a power light, it doesn't flash or blink or anything like that, but it is very bright. I have it mounted on my desk so the light faces up and isn't a problem, but if you wanted to mount this thing on the wall, the light could be a problem because of how bright it is. It's bright to the point that it's almost blinding if you look directly into it. But, if you don't look directly into it, it's great, and just creates a soft blue ambiance.
Customer Review: Why did I wait so long to buy one of these Summary: 5 Stars
I am constantly transporting files from my home office to my work office using a jumpstick. For years I've been fumbling around at the back of my home desktop, plugging the various peripherals into the slots in the back. Not easy to do when the CPU sits on the floor in the corner. When I finally decided enough was enough, I did some looking around, found the good reviews on this model, and figured I'd give it a try. I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Now I simply reach beside me, pop in my jumpstick, and away we go. It also is great to be able to leave all those other items plugged in all the time (label machine, camera cable, Ipod cable, etc., you know how they seem to multiply faster than available USB ports).
The hub seems sturdy and I haven't had any problems with it in the 6 months I've had it. I'm sure like most $20 products it has a limited life expectancy, but at that price, I'm not going to worry about it.
Customer Review: I NEEDED THIS SOOOOO BAD !!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Every time I turn around I'm running out of places to plug in peripherals. USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 or Firewire or eSATA. This USB 2.o hub is great and you can add more to it if you want. This was so easy to install because you mount the plate first and then slide the hub into the plate. No more trying to line up the little cross-hares on the back with the screws that you may or may not have centered properly. Also it is very low profile. Super plug and play You computer just knows it is there. No software to install or " Add Hardware " Wizard to deal with.
The only thing I don't like about this USB hub and others as well is the super bright blue light. I mounted my hub on the back of my cabinet and I don't see the blue light unless I'm trying to sleep. And then it's just annoying. I hope they start using a dimmer light. If something stops working I can look for the dim light on the hub instead of a bright one to see if it's online
