I live in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and was searching for a radio I could use at night while trying to fall to sleep. The only requirement was it had to be able to receive KFI 640 without having to move it to face a certain way. I kept trying radios all the way from a cheap handheld up to a Grundig SL350 and none of them would do it. I finally decided I needed something that would allow me to connect an external AM antenna. Although the Grundig said it would I found no difference in AM when I attached a long wire antenna.
I finally decided the CC crane would be the one that I needed. That ended up being correct. I hooked it up to the antenna and 640 comes in fine. I don't have to turn the radio to get any of my stations. It is the most selective and sensitive radio I've ever owned. I haven't used the memory function but it has it. I would recommend this if you are trying to tune in one station that is hard to get.

I own the Chinese version of this radio (Redsun RP2100). This wonderful big portable radio has been sitting on my desk at work for close to a year. On FM it has the best tone of any portable radio I've ever owned. The large speaker puts out sound that is every bit as good as that from my Kloss Tivoli Audio Model One table radio. While I cannot read Chinese, it took little time to figure out the controls. My radio came with a 220v to 110v converter for plugging the included power cord into North American outlets, but, I just run it off 4 AA rechargeable batteries. I don't listen much to AM, but this radio's pull of distant AM stations is impressive. I do wish the backlight that comes on when tuning the radio was brighter (it cannot compare to the Grundig S350DL in this respect). It has a big sturdy telescoping antenna for SW reception and there is no SW drift. The well-designed folding handle is a plus.Customer Review: C Crane CCRadio-SW

Worked great out of the box with no problems. AM(MW in Europe) very sensitive. But it was the FM that really impressed me. I record a public radio show for my brother-in-law in England, and the CCRadio with line out went right into my computer so I could burn a CD for him. Short wave is very good also, but would be nice if long wave was included.
One confusing item I found was the low battery indicator when operating on D cells, after only 2-3 hours it was down to 2 bars. Checking the batteries with a voltmeter showed they were still above 1.5 volts. The AC adapter delivers 9 volts so batteries will indicate low. Guess if you run on batteries it will be like the old days, replace when the radio quits.
Sound quality is good on speaker, and excellent on headphones. very pleased wih purchase and service from Amazon.

The CC Radio SW is a superb performer for the DX radio enthusiast. The receiver has exceptionally good sensitivity along with extremely good selectivity on the AM functions including SW reception. The audio fidelity is exceptional as well. I have been a broadcast band DX enthusiast for nearly 50 years and I have used many good radios for that purpose. The CC radio SW really meets or exceeds all of my expectations. The only feature that is missing is a BFO for sideband reception. In addition, The FM reception is exceptional as well. Great sensitivity and selectivity as well. Stereo reception with the headphones is a real plus also. Thanks for a great radio at a time when most new products leave much to be desired. Buy the CC Radio SW, You will love it to!

Great radio. AM reception is super, I live in area that has bad AM reception. This radio pulls many, many more signals in. FM reception is great, with external antenna connections on back the reception can be improved even more for all bands. User controls took some getting used to but once familiar they aren't bad. If I hadn't been new to SW I would have known to order radio with SSB capabilities, the TG37 SSB adapter connected to IF OUT is available for about $40. The built in battery charger is nice feature. Very good/great radio, sound quality is good/great, good overall radio; portable enough to be taken camping or outdoors. Nice product, only time will tell as to quality
