Customer Review: Great for Recording FM Stereo to MP3

I have been through a couple of MP3 players with recording capability, but they usually can only record off-air to WAV format, i.e. lo-fi mono Blah. Then I tried using Audacity to record direct to hard drive on computer. Good, but annoying hiss in background whenever line-in to sound card inserted. Then I tried this. It's perfect for my intended use.
I am a big world music fan, and I have been trying to record some of the programs at the low end of the FM dial, i.e. noncommercial FM. This is the best thing yet for me. Works nicely with 32gb SDHC card and charges nicely from my Apple portable USB power supply (the one with the fold-in prongs). The only problem I had was that drag-and-drop would hang when trying to copy to the computer. Tech support at C Crane suggested using copy-and-paste command; they were right, it works perfectly. This was on iMac G5 PPC running Mac OS 10.4.11. I love this thing!!!

The first thing I did when I got the unit was place a screen protector over the display. An extra Ipod Nano protector fitted nicely when turned sideways. The second thing was to get a carrying case with substancial breakage protection. I picked one up at Walmart for 9.99. Crane does not offer the screen or case breakage protection you would want for a 180 dollar purchase.It has a sillicone case but I would not trust it if dropped. Bought the Witness strickly to record Coast To Coast Am from 1am to 5am. After a few trial and errors I got it down pat. It is just great to not only hear the entire show but whenever and where ever you choose to. For me that is worth the price of admission. The sound is best with my own headphones. I can not speak on any of the other features of the player because I do not intend to use them. I have other gadgets for that.

Wow - I love this little thing! I've always wanted a MP3 player that also had AM, but the CC Witness did even better by having the recording feature. Works great - pretty easy to use, a little learning curve, but not bad at all. One thing I REALLY love is the ability to speed up the recording, I've hate "slow speakers", so this way I can listen as fast as my little brain can process! Also, I like the fast forward, I can get past those commercials in no time. I agree it's pricey, but what new gadget isn't these days. I got a big SDHC card and put my entire music collection on it. All it all - I'm very happy with it. By the way - I ordered the desk cradle and charger, nice option to have.Customer Review: The best radio recorder

I also bought the CCWitness to replace the radio your way by POGO products. I first tried the Degen 1123 but it just didn't work out. I only bought the Degen because it was a lot cheaper. Well you get what you pay for and the extra money for the Witness is well worth it. My wifes been using it for over a month now and loves it. She can program her radio shows in advance and can hear the commercials zip by when she fast forwards. Good easy to read instructions. The only bad thing is it doesn't come with an a/c adaptor you better have a computer to charge the batteries. It's a great unit.Customer Review: better than pogo

I WAS USING A POGO RADIO, AND LOOKING FOR IMPROVE, FIND WAS DISCONTINUED. AND THEN
FIND THIS CC WITNESS THAT IS BETTER.IS A PLEASURE TO HANDLE, THE WAY THE FILES ARE NAMED BY DATE HOUR AND NUMBER; THE QUALITY OF SOUND; THE SELECTION FOR STATIONS; THE MENU, TO UNDERSTAND THE MANUAL ETC
ONLY NOTICE THE IN LINE CONEXION IS NOT THE SAME OF OTHER CABLE I HAVE.
ALSO THE BATTERY WITH THE POGO WAS VERY DIFICULT THE CONECTION AND WITH THE CC WITNESS THEY SAID TO SEND TO MANUFACTURER.
THE LOGIC IS TO CONECT EASY LIKE PHOTO CAMERAS, TO CARRY ADICIONAL BATTERY IF NEEDED.
