Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Brother MFC-7820N 5-in-1 Network Monochrome Laser Multifunction Center

Customer Review: So Much Better Than HP
Summary: 5 Stars

Thank goodness my HP all in one finally stayed down for the count and gave me the opportunity to buy this machine! Like other reviewers, I have struggled with HP multifunction machines and have been constantly frustrated by poor design and unreliable performance. In contrast, the Brother machine does everything the HP does, and does it better and faster. I was especially impressed with the fax function. I write a lot of reports and have to wait for them to finish faxing before I can file them and start on something new. With the HP, you are a slave to however slow the receiver's fax is, with a tendency to draw multiple pages in at once. With the Brother, the machine scans and stores the material in memory before attempting to send it. What a great machine and what an improvement over the HP "industry standard". I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: best B/W printer for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had this printer for a little over a month now - this is our first Brother purchase. There's absolutely nothing negative that can be said about this printer.

Quick summary:
- Print quality (even though only black and white) is outstanding
- Printing speed is outstanding
- Ease of use is outstanding
- Functionality (i.e. print, scan, copy, fax) makes it that much more of a deal
- Lastly, the fact that it can be hooked up to your network is also a HUGE plus. All of the PCs on your network can print, copy, scan with the click of a button - AWESOME!!!

Would I recommend this printer to people??? A HUGE 'YES'! You can't get much more bang for your buck than the purchase of this printer. Buy with confidence.

Customer Review: Better late than never
Summary: 5 Stars

I think that I have reached end of life for this printer after 4+ years of office use. We have it running off a wireless router with three computers prining off of it. It is now jamming up post fuser every now and again. Too bad, so sad...

Anyway, the reason for the post is that we have been refilling our toner cartridges since day one and usually get 3-4 refills before it starts gumming up. The key to doing this is resetting the white flag on the left side ("brother" facing you) of the cartridge. Some older cartridges require you to remove the screw to reset the flag.

Also, there is a reset procedure for the drum which will allow you to get 1000s more copies off the drum. I don't remember it off hand but you can find it on the net.

Customer Review: Right out of the box
Summary: 5 Stars

I run a small investment business from my home. I purchased this unit after MUCH research on price vs. function.

The unit works great - just followed the instructions and a snap to network and have up in no time. My home network consists of 3 units over a wireless router to a printer server/multiport hub with a Vonage phone. yet no conflicts or issues with installing the unit - much to my surprise!

I understand from other postings that there may be issues with the auto document feeder, etc. The overall build quality is very good, but I can see potential issues with this area - but only if it is heavily used.

Still the unit is very good and has probably the greatest cost/benefit ratio of anything out there.

Customer Review: Excellent experience
Summary: 5 Stars

This all-in-one has been excellent to us so far ....about 2 months of use. It prints very well, scans, copies and the fax functionality work very well. We were able to setup the networking with ease and also hook it up with an answering machine set-up, no problems at all. The only minor downfall is that each time a fax comes in, there is a voicemail on our home phone with the fax voice details....which does not bug me at all.
It is true that the pages come out a bit curled.....which is totally a non-issue. The pintouts are a bit off center, if you stare at it long and hard.
But the price you pay for it as opposed to an HP printer is totally worth it. I would highly recommend this product.
